I've been at my current company 3 years without a significant raise (while several men I work with have had raises and promotions) and I'm wondering if I'm losing out on a higher potential salary or earning potential by staying this long? Should I be looking to move on to another company that actually promotes women or should I fight for a raise here? Confused. Looking to go from an associate position to a manager position.

Unfortunately if you have to ask if it's sexist, it usually is. If the men who were promoted before you were also associates with the same job skills and experience then I would start to look for other jobs, they clearly don't value you.

Maybe you aren't making enough noise about it! Best advice I ever received was to speak loudly and openly about what I want, chances are the guys who got raises before you asked for what they wanted without worrying about how it would look. You need to do the same.

Tbh as minorities we have to job hop to make more…you should start applying else where

Get. Out. Now.

You’ll get a promotion easier at a new company. I spent a lot of my corporate life under a ceiling until I started moving around.

Lol there’s no “up” being a small biz owner which I am grateful for. I control my own paycheck.

Cheering for you!!!

You need to bounce because at this point you will not catch up by staying there as you’ve lost significant income over three years. I would aim to get some hard feedback from one of my colleagues or boss as to why you’re constantly overlooked assuming all else (quality of work) is equal. Also, in your aspirations to be a manager do you have leadership qualities because if you’re not speaking up about a raise or promotion you may have earned, others may not see you as a leader. Do your aspirations to enter management entail being a manager of a process or people? If you decide to stay, you must figure out a way to break out from your peers.

Get those feelers out there now. When you’ve got a couple interviews lined up (preferably second round, etc.) bring up your compensation and see what they say, if for no other reason than to make them squirm a little. Your employer treats you like a commodity. You need to remember that. Watch out for yourself!

Lack of raise in 3 years is definitely suspect. Remember women still make $.80 to a man’s dollar. If you’re not getting a raise and the guys around you are, your ratio might be even worse.

Time to go. 1) The biggest raises come from switching firms. And 2) it won’t get better if you already feel like women aren’t valued at the firm

Thank you guys, going to start looking this week. So good to have confirmation that it can get better elsewhere!

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

I am interviewing for a few in house roles, coming from another in house role. I have good credentials and experience, but the company I’m currently at has had a bad couple of years and doesn’t have the best reputation in the marketplace right now. Will I be judged by this in interviews? And what is the best way to acknowledge the company’s obvious less-than-stellar reputation without it seeming like all Im trying to do is jump ship?

Considering a move to NTT Data in a healthcare consulting role. Mixed reviews in the bowls. Major concerns are bench policy, staff aug roles, 2 week PTO, and high turnover due to job dissatisfaction. Recruiter and mgr had great things to say around growth and opportunity, which doesn’t align with feedback from the bowls or Glassdoor.
Understanding things have changed there in the last few months, I need un-biased advice from fellow fish who have recently joined or can speak to recent changes

Recently I got call from recruiter for job opportunity in SAP. It was for 10+ years experience and I had cleared their first round of online assessment - some questions related to ABAP and OO.
As she gathered some info about my experience and education, she found out that I did my BSc IT. She said it should be minimum Engineering degree or MCA to proceed with interview. I was surprised I was rejected for a role inspite of having 10+ yrs of experience in the field due to education qualification

Hey Sharks,
I need some guidance on my career path.
I am a full stack developer with IBM serving notice period.
Tech stack is JAVA/SpringB/ Micros/Angular/ GCP.
I got an offer from Citi Bank / Wells Fargo which is a backend role only.
Now I got offer from JPMC but the tech stack is different, Its for Infrastructure team and technology does not have JAVA.
Its for React/ Node JS/ Python.
Also my biggest concern is it worth switching to JPMC for an infrastructure team and for a diff tech. YOE 9.

Comparing IR role with 250k TC plus small carry versus the PE group at MBB coming in at post MBA consultant level with promise to fast track to PL/EM within a year. Also includes the support and mentorship of the partner who runs the group. TC would be close to the same as I’m making now. What could be the exit opportunities if I go the MBB route if I don’t want to stay as partner with the ballpark potential comp

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Do you like the curriculum? Why or why not? Would you be willing to share what you do weekly/daily? Thanks!
