Spend any extra time picking up certifications relevant to the consulting roles you want to move into. Make it easy for a client to sign off on your resume.

A lot of "consulting" ends up as staff aug for better or worse. Good to be on one of those long term projects right now.
That being said, I came from a no-name school and was able to jump and exit.
You should figure out what direction you want to head and:
1) leverage firm resources to train/get relevant certs
2) see if you can get on an adjacent project
3) network and lateral into B4 as experienced associate
4) think about how to frame your existing experience appropriately, fill in any gaps with networking or skills
thats what happens when you run a firm with strictly local staffing model. you only get roles that are in your home city so you end up taking whatever is avaliable
Slalom is all staff Aug. Get out as soon as you can or risk career stagnation.
Agreed. Slalom will not help your career. Leadership is hypocritical and only have their own interests at heart. Try to brain wash their employees and will throw them under the bus at any opportunity.
My boss at Slalom has been very receptive to my desires to be staffed on engagements, but there's only so much that can be done when we've got a lot of staff aug roles and I'm one of the newer hires. Not sure if I could move on within a year, or if I should wait about 2 to get promoted up to consultant before leaving. Any suggestions on timing and how I can make myself an attractive candidate despite the aug roles?
My first job was at a boutique firm after graduating from an ok university with a 3.3 gpa. I joined Deloitte after a year. I also worked in technology, had an engineering background, and had demonstrated directly affecting savings for the company. I originally planned to jump after year 2, but found I had slowed in my growth at year 1. I left early due to the pace of learning/growth slowing.

Varies by office.
I have not had any roles beyond stop gap that were staff augish . Part of it is the sales team in your market having high level strategic convos and selling good work. That’s a skill. Not all sales people have that. And not all sales leader drive for that. And even if they sell that work, you personal skills and internal brand has to be such that the think to propose you, and then the clients have to buy into that casting. If your problem is sales folks then a change of scenery could be good

Go to KPMG
You might be able to transfer to Slalom Build. Their projects are more large scale solutions as opposed to staff aug.
Build is essentially Slalom's digital agency. Worlds different (and better) than local.
If you're going to leave, don't leave to a different consulting company, leave to a completely different industry
