I’ve been eating the same 2-3 breakfast meals every morning for the past year WFH and need to change it up. What do you eat for breakfast if you’re at home?

I saw above that you recently had a baby. Congratulations! Between you and your wife, choose one person whose job it is to prepare breakfast every morning for the two of you. The other person is on Baby duty. Since you’re writing this post, I assume breakfast is an important meal for both of you, so if one of you always knows you’re preparing it, you can both start the day with something good. Keep it simple, though. No need to go beyond what you normally eat - like the Greek yogurt with various mix-ins you mentioned your wife used to have. Stick to that, unless of course you both decide you want to have something that takes a bit more effort. Good luck! I know it’s a real adjustment how much time a baby can take!

Thanks for the kind words! My wife loves making her own breakfast cause she’s fancy like that. I want to step up my game so she’ll want me to make it for her 😁

How to grill an English Muffin. Have a griddle and heat it to 67% (Med-High). Let it set for about 2 min so it evens the heat. Split the Muffin with a fork (poke, rotate, then separate). Use a European style butter (e.g. Kerrygold or Finlandia) and put two pads of butter on each half - inner side only. As you place the muffins down, butter side, move them in a circular fashion and slightly press them down. Periodically, what you want to do is switch their places by sliding them across the griddle - generally about every minute. So - let them get that first minute as a head start... we're talking maaaybe 5 minutes total Egg time. So at that minute in start heating a small non-stick at 75%. When I say small, 6 inch tops - ideally 4 for a single egg. It needs 1 minute to get the heat even. Put in another pad of butter and coat the bottom of the pan. The butter should sizzle and separate out the solids. If the butter starts to burn or heavily smoke - your pan is way too hot. dump the butter (in the sink) Turn the heat off, wipe the pan give it a quick rinse with hot water (to slightly cool it) then restart the process without over heating the pan. So let's assume that your pan is perfect, your butter is evenly coating, and you are ready to trot. -this should be basically 1:30 since you started the English Muffin, so you should have rotated it once. You should notice now that the Muffin is laying flat on the griddle and has puffed up on both sides. Turn your heat there to 40% Back to the egg pan, drop the heat to 67%, Crack the egg, sprinkle some salt and grind your pepper. Wait for a few moments for the egg to solidify (maybe 15-20 seconds tops) then twist the pan so that the butter liquids spin around the pan and you can see the egg slide slightly. At this point, if you've got left over bacon from the weekend, put it in the pan to reheat wait 15 seconds, rotate the english muffins and check for the first time. If it is *just past brown* turn your heat to low, otherwise do it in 30 seconds. Flip your egg with a spatula, turn your heat to low, press down slightly with the spatula to crack your yolk (so it isn't runny) then put on some sliced american or gouda cheese, flip your bacon. Now, assemble your egg sandwich. Grilling your muffin results in a very soft outside and a harder crunch as well as an even butter distribution. This is also a great technique for spreading on marmalade or similar preserves. Other days, I do a 2 egg breakfast burrito. I've done frittatas with prior days left over potatoes. I do a mean Israeli couscous with apple chunks that I layer in sliced hardboiled eggs. I make a fair amount of steel cut oats. Everything is usually served with a piece of fruit and a few cups of coffee.

Depends on how much you use. If you keep in under 60 cals you should keep fast. (Not sure if it matters by body weight) ie impact of 60 Cals on someone 120 lbs will be larger than that of someone who is 250 lbs. I don’t eat until 1 during the but I do drink black coffee and have gone down the rabbit whole with periodized eating.

Pancakes, eggs, bacon, coffee — every day

Yeah, 💯 agree with the good foods / bad foods. I know I can get somewhat petulant about it, but I use to drink diet soda at the gym to just piss people off. I was active duty military regularly running multiple 6 min miles and lifting heavy. I got a real kick out of dispelling nutrition and fitness myths. I don't encourage unhealthy behaviors, but people generally don't grasp the magnitude of impact these kinds of changes make. As much as I worry about carcinogens in cured meats, I still have them as a snack occasionally. While it increases the likelihood of bowel cancer, the actual change in probability that I get bowel cancer BECAUSE of cured meats is very small. It's probably less unhealthy than working at a computer screen all day.

Pop an egg in the air fryer to hard boil it on 250 degrees for 15 min then jump in the shower. By the time I'm done and dressed, the egg has around 3-5 min left, so I mash my avocado (with lemon juice, salt, pepper, and garlic powder) and stick a piece of bread in the toaster. Pull the egg out, dunk in ice water for 30 seconds, peel it, cut it, and place on the toast with avocado mash and everything bagel seasoning and red pepper flakes on top. DONE.

Yeah, as a dude, I only spend about 2 mins on hair (shave with a razor while in the shower), 2 mins on beard trimming, and 2 mins on moisturizer / makeup (retinol cream, bb cream, beard coloring to sharpen the lines). Not having to blowdry hair is nice.

I used to do this with strawberries baked in and I’d add a few fresh ones on top with a spoonful of peanut butter (goes all melty if you pop the baked oatmeal in the microwave for 20s)

Since it's cold I make big pots of oatmeal and cream of wheat. Keep in the fridge and eat as needed.
