Does Barclays give permanent work from home ?
Hello everyone,
From your experience, should I apply to entry-level strategy consulting positions in Paris (my hometown) or in Dubaï?
Background: I just finished my master's in finance and my bachelor's in target/international universities and did 2 M&A internships (Tier2 bank & elite boutique).
I am considering relocating to Dubai (vs. Paris) because of the following elements:
-net pay
-better chance to get into top firms?
-WLB
-international
-meritocratic
What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Yes, feel similar in most days. A few key habits have helped. I have a pep talk with myself every morning before starting work and keep a journal. Meditate every morning and exercise every evening. Plan all my vacations and long weekends on Jan 1st. I also developed a few hobbies and connect with friends and family regularly.
Next time I get negative thoughts about wasting my life with consulting, rehashing the same thing everyday, I call out my minds bluff by reminding myself all the things I am doing outside of work that gives it meaning. Even within work, the coaching work I do is meaningful, the conversations I have with colleagues is meaningful, the learning I get by observing others meaningful.
Consulting may not be for you and it’s ok to find an alternative. Till that happens don’t be miserable. Tell yourself everyday “I love my job (at least some aspects of it)” and you will notice positive change.
Thank you so much! I actually do meditate in the morning (and also get a workout in then as well). I like the idea of journaling and also stay close to friends and family. I think your point on negative thinking and focusing more on the positive aspects is right, along with the pep talk. Will give them both a try (and thankfully I am not miserable at all, more just restless).
I’ve found data work on a product team in tech to be very interesting and impactful. I analyze data to find opportunities to improve the business, and play a part in the implementation of those opportunities
I've considered doing something more startup/product related since I have an engineering background and the output is more tangible, how did you make the switch?
