Without seeing your follow up - deep breaths. It is true that maternity leave won't be as long as you want, or if it is, there will be other challenges. It is true that coordinating schedules, work, private life are hard. But these are hard without kids. You cannot have a high powered career while working 35 hours a week - at least, I have yet to see it happen. (Please someone prove me wrong. Sweden?) Cross each bridge as you get there, when you get there. You and your partner may change your minds on when (30 is so young in a way!), you may change your career perspective, your partner may end up wanting you to be primary caregiver. Negative scenarios appear like maybe breastfeeding doesn't work for you. This isn't to spook you. Its because things change, and from your phrasing, you have another year or two to sort this. Finally, my advice would always be to not do too much in one year. Return to the workforce. Settle in to a new company or your new role. Then start trying. 🙂

You have a point there, research shows that fertility does start to drop at 30 (your most fertile years are in your 20s) but everyone and every pregnancy is so different, there are people who struggle with fertility in their 20s too and some who have the first with ease but struggle with subsequent pregnancies. You just never know. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself and cross that bridge when you get there. You can plan it out perfectly but get a curveball at any point

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

I’ve only worked on tech transformations for clients in one specific industry throughout my whole career. All projects have been almost the same. Is this a disadvantage for mba applications, or is it a pro since I show deep expertise in a certain area? I only really stayed on these types of projects because that’s where my network took me.
