Hello friends, I had the honor of hosting Harrison, Elaine, and Samuel from McKinsey for a conversation about their journeys and about the COVID-19 and Advancing Asian American Recovery report (they are three of its six authors) on my podcast: Dear Asian Americans.

Schedule one per week and take the $$, if $250 doesn’t feel like enough then charge more, and explain the amount of hours you put in for each resume.
Ok, thank you. You’re right. One a week would be more than enough for me.
I don't see an issue but don't be shy about setting some firmer expectations, you went above and beyond for a colleague but don't promise a quick turn around moving forward, 10 days seems reasonable. That way you have time to space it out with your own job search.
I used a resume rewrite service once and it was great but it WAS a 2-3 week turn around with a max given number of edits (I think 1 or 2)
Omg really? About the max edits? I literally had to write 4 of her jobs from scratch. She had the role and dates and location but no company or accomplishments/job responsibilities. I guess this is why I was dreading what her friends’ resumes might look like.
I’ll set firmer expectations. Thank you.
And you’re right, I went above and beyond for a colleague because I wanted her to at least be considered for a role I know she is qualified for. Thanks for understanding and for your advice.
I can’t tell if I’m letting an opportunity go by or if I’m right to focus on what’s really important. I mean I’m trying to jump at least an additional 35k in my salary and I don’t want to spend 5 hours on a resume for $250
I hadn’t thought of it that way. Thank you for the perspective. I appreciate it.
Not sure what stops you from doing both. If it’s a question of limited time, can you find time on weekends to work on resumes? It sounds like a great side gig and even something you can continue doing after you land your new job
That’s true. Thank you for your advice.
