While the new gf may end up just as toxic, at least you'll have that initial new relationship excitement before she raises her toxic head...
Other option is industry, which is really just a different type of toxicity
Haha thanks! I've always been a word artist 🔨
Here is the thing, using the relationship metaphor, you and you partner need to have the same end goals. If you want kids and she doesn’t, then you either need to find someone that has the same end goals or internally compromise. Meaning you need to understand that she doesn’t want and won’t have kids and there is probably nothing you can do about it; take it or leave it. This is how companies work, in a “take it or leave it” mindset. And unless you are one of the few chosen ones, they are not going to compromise. So find a company with the same professions goals as yours and can DELIVER on those goals. I find a lot of companies I work with say they have goals that would align with my career (growth, development, exposure, safe risk taking culture, pay for performance, work life balance, meaningful work, etc.) but they are not able to deliver.
Long-story-short, leaving for the right reasons to the right place can solve a lot of problems.
It feels like I'm in a situation where I need to break up with my current toxic girlfriend (Accenture) but my only options (feels like) in this industry is another who is less toxic on the surface but she looks a little prettier simply because she's offering a little more money. The problem isn't solved I just accept a little more coin to continue dealing / living with the same bs
They're certainly doing better on revenue.... wondering how that is..
Depends on what you are after I suppose
Happiness and a healthy life, frankly
Good insights, thank you both
Your career is what you make of it. Moving to another firm isn’t going to solve all of your problems because it’s still on you to grow your network and find more enjoyable work.
WLB is difficult in consulting, simply due to the instability of “routines”, so that means consider industry in my mind.
