I’m currently interviewing for a hybrid Jr UX Designer role for a fragrance company. The compensation is between 70-80k. I searched the market rate in NYC and the salaries are between 103-120k. I assume this is based on the company, industry, and experience. I have a graphic design background with 10 years experience and have a springboard certification for UX. I don’t want to get low balled as I have been in the past. Is it unreasonable to ask for what’s market value when it’s a team of 5?

Left MBB 2 years post Mba to pursue equivalent pay and amazing wlb in a “big old tech” strategy team (think IBM, Dell, HP). I thought boring work would be fine in the context but after 1 year it’s getting to me. I have a Consultant level (post-MBA) offer from MBB. I’m currently an Associate (soon to be Manager) at a blockchain VC, and was previously a Manager at a Tier 2/3 consulting firm. While I’m really happy in my current role and believe in the future of blockchain technology and get great investment opportunities, I feel this would be a great opportunity to get the MBB stamp of credibility, and the pay is significantly higher (2-3x).
