I know that it feels overwhelming when you’re first starting out especially because I always think “well where do I even begin”, but honestly, start combing through job listings on LinkedIn and apply for anything that catches your eye. The job market is booming right now and it’s a great time to start your career or make a career change. If there’s anyone in your network with experience in the PM field that can look over your resume and help you spruce it up, that’s an added bonus.
I'd strongly recommend getting a mentor and building your network. Getting your foot in the door in PM often requires having the right connections. Plus, a mentor can help you determine specific next steps in your career path to help you get you where you want to be. Good luck to you!
Have you done any internships? Maybe while you're still in school, you can reach out to PMs on LinkedIn and see how you can shadow them and build your own unpaid internship to get the experience
I’m working full time still and grad school is part time. Unpaid internship is no a for me unfortunately
