Has anyone interviewed for the Meta - Enterprise Support Tech role? I'm really hoping to land this role. I'm pretty strong in windows and just a little above average on Macs so I'm hoping to find out if they quiz of terminal commands and what not. Would love any pointers on what to study up. Please tell us what you’ve done for 3 years then

Still curious what you’ve done then
I’m saying MC is what people think about most when they hear “consulting”. Think about the process and how they align. We sell something based on the client, improve process, help make more profit/save on expenses with these processes, and continue to change the company and its operations as we learn more. I’d say the difference of consulting and advisory would be consulting related more to selling a client something based on limited guidance of what they’d like to do, so we plan and attack. Advisory seems more like the client has decided what they want and now they need help with doing it. Correct me if I’m wrong though people, that’s just my understanding.
C1 and SC1 provided great examples! Remember that technology consulting is just that - you consult your clients on what technology can do for them. There is a fine line between consulting on technology and implementation of said technology. So tech consulting = here are some technologies that will solve problem x and here’s how I suggest you go about it. Implementation = ok, we can make that plan a reality.
On that note, many of us tech consulting folks get looped into the delivery side of the work. Just keep this in mind as you go about your day and think about where you (or your firm) can provide expertise to your client on technologies to solve their problems.
Solution design can be consulting. It’s a fine line between consultancy and advisory when it comes to IT.
I️ do the same. I️ consider it consulting due to the fact that during the work we are also guiding them towards improvement processes, not just system implementation. Essentially we are also, in some instances doing management consulting.
Semantics is right. C1- you hit the nail on the head and that’s why I call it grey in IT. Some of my client work involves a company who has zero idea about security. We perform a pre-assessment of their whole environment (tell them how screwed up they are) and then turn around and advise on how to approach the situation. At that point we provide services that can start on their identity access management and 3 months later we are bringing in our digital experience folks and working along side them to help with a new roll out. There is usually limited guidance when we go in. They tell us we fall under X, Y,Z regulations, just fix it. We don’t always bring a revenue stream, in most cases never but we are advising and at times consulting. True spirit of management consulting, we are not.
OP do you do PMO?
What I was alluding to was that I've done nothing technical in my role.
I do implementations. Either solution designing or hands on developing.
What
Consultants that design, build, and implement technology solutions.
Unlucky
I guess I'm confused because I do implementation work (solution design, build, and implement). From some people, that's not tech consulting nor strategy consulting. It's more advisory consulting. Correct?
C1- now you through me for a loop. Difference of MC and Consulting?
Def not advisory consulting
D2- what is the definition of advisory consulting
Semantics
Big 4 Tech Consultants are BS-Master. They talk vision, innovation, best practices,, etc, to the industry, yet they don't practice what they preach.
