I’ve been in Enterprise SaaS sales for 5 years now and am considering a move into sales management at the same company I’ve been selling at. Is there a downside of moving into a mid market sales management? Say for instance I don’t like it and want to move back into an ENT IC sales role. I’m purely interested in how it would impact the brand that I’ve built for myself if management isn’t my thing.

I did this exact same thing about 4 years ago. There are always downsides to increasing responsibilities (e.g. stress of a larger number, managing different styles/personalities, etc). That being said, it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Great company/product + great reps + hard work = tons of fun and extremely rewarding. To answer your last question - yes, if you are a solid rep, you can always go back to being a solid rep.

I understand your concern but think you’ll be just fine. Even if you end up hating management, your company would much rather hire you for ENT IC role than take a much bigger gamble with an external candidate.

Following!

Moving into sales management shouldn't hurt you, since you will still carry a quota. Stay away from alliances... much harder to get back into enterprise sales after an alliance role.

Are you going to manage a group of sales professionals?

Yes, 4-6 sales reps if I get the job

Cold calling agencies. Is it weird to google/LinkedIn a specific person (HOP, say) and dial by name, directly call them? Agencies are massive and receptionists (if there is one) won’t direct you to a role. They want a name. For freelancers trying to network, this seems to be the only way in if you have no contacts there. Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Already did my research but the range is kind of all over the place for experienced hires so just want to have a ballpark. Thanks!

Met with a CCO for a role on a notoriously “challenging” account. Thirty minute Zoom, nothing in-depth. A few days later the recruiter emails like “Great news. We’ve talked to many people but they’d like to make an offer to you!” I’m thinking to myself, it was a 30 minute call, I’ve never met my direct manager, potential partner(s), etc...So these guys are just desperate to fill this role, right?

hey all - Would appreciate opinions on two job options 1) current role: Deloitte internal tech strategy (not client facing). Enjoyable, good work/life balance and support from managers to move to other parts of firm in a year or two. 2) potential new role: Accenture tech strategy and advisory. 25k base more + signing bonus. I’m curious if those at Accenture like their jobs, what the work/life balance is, and how likely it is i’ll get pigeonholed there TIA!

Anyone else finding it very difficult to get any enjoyment out of account management these days? Any coping tips? I feel like being an account person is especially difficult in the COVID era since so much of what we do is manage communications, ensure the team is set up well etc. None of this feels particularly fun alone staring into the void of Zoom all day ... but the same pressure is still there. I feel like I spend every week counting down to the weekend which kinda sucks.

So I got divorced earlier this year. I left my husband because he was abusive and I don't hate him anymore or feel anger towards him, which has been a big accomplishment for me. I do, however, hate his family for supporting him and making excuses for him. They tried to pin a lot of his mental health issues on me and his sister blocked me on some social media. I'm so angry with them and don't want them to be happy but those feelings are preventing me from moving on. Advice on how to move on pls?
