Evangelicals did sell their soul to the false prophet, didn’t they? From Cohen’s book: Trump held a meeting at Trump Tower with prominent evangelical leaders, where they laid their hands on him in prayer. Afterward, Trump said: “Can you believe that bulls--t? Can you believe people believe that bulls--t?”. The cosmic joke was that Trump convinced a vast swathe of working-class white folks in the Midwest that he cared about their well-being, Cohen writes
I was just laid off. I feel lost, feeling both pumped up for the future but pained because I was a high performing, straight laced, and by the book team member. Looking for Muslim leaders who are recruiting. Extensive experience in strategy and implementation of Data and RPA technologies. PMP and RPA developer certified. SQL, R, Python, UiPath, Agile, waterfall.
I work at a preschool that redirects disruptive students by giving them a book to calm down and regroup. Do you think this is a good practice or does it ultimately lead the student to see reading as punishment?
Any recommendations on books on Leadership?
I'm looking for recommendations on inspirational content for women leaders. I follow TEDWomen, many podcasts, and the women's conference among other sources. Please add any speakers, books, or events that you may have come across!

Just wanted to share fantastic leadership book my executive coach just released. It’s great! Clear, concise and an easy read. And no I don’t anything for recommending it, it’s genuine! (The e-reader version is only $0.99) Spark Brilliance: How the Science of Positive Psychology Will Ignite, Engage, and Transform Your Team https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SNLCW7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_F3M21RCQ9KTGGQDMRVA7
Latest episode posted! “Generals in the Making” is a gem of a leadership book and should be required reading for any early or mid-level professional. The book is an engrossing examination of how four army generals of World War II, each a major player in their own right, navigated the uncertain and tumultuous pre-war years in their careers. sphttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/black-market-leadership/id1523238553?i=1000533915181
This is consistent with the research findings in my book "Lead From the Future". The 5-10 year horizon brings as much to see opportunities as much as threats and is the north star; need even now
I’m gearing up for my first hire/direct report. Which management/leadership books would folks recommend reading for inspiration, food for thought?
I’ve hit an absolute brick wall when it comes to finding for a new job. I’ve had almost a dozen interviews that lead nowhere and been ghosted by a ton of recruiters. Would anyone be available to look over my book and give me some advice? 🙏
Team- need advice. I've been trying to break into strategy for 2 years. I'm at the junior level, but I already managed to bring a new client to my agency, build their brand book and helped lead focus groups. It's like I'm a junior planner without the title. How can I finally break in?
Hello, All! I'm looking for recommendations on inspirational content for women leaders. I follow TEDWomen, many podcasts, and the Women's Conference among other sources. I'd love to hear a fresh perspective on business, trends, tech, marketing, equality in the workforce, etc. I'd love to learn something new. I'm at the VP level and have started a couple of companies, so nothing too junior, but open to many topics. Please share any speakers, books, webinars, or events that you may come across.
Recommend good books on project mgmt!
There are far too much books on leadership (how to inspire and develop people), but not so much on how to manage projects (timeline, stakeholders, risks, etc.)
I believe improving one’s sales conversion rate is something everyone want to improve but no one wants to admit they would like to work it. Funny how lawyers will spend thousands on seminars to improve trial skills. But this topic is not discussed in our profession. I have read books in sales. But am unable to find any for lawyers. I want convert every lead I can. Does anyone have tips, books, cle’s or studied this topic?
Hi friends, I lead brand and advertising at Bankrate, a financial services education site. We’re building an in-house agency (25+ people already) to develop our campaigns, YouTube series, and more. Hiring a bunch of positions but hot on a copywriter with agency experience (mid+, title flexible, salary competitive based on experience/location, remote/Charlotte/NYC/Detroit). Here’s the listing, DM me with Qs, I’m an open book. I’ve been here for a year after 15 in agencies and love it.
Best books on leadership and sales skills?
I am studying for MBA and need 3 books. They are very expensive to buy, so I am wondering if any of you have access to a soft copy that you can share.
> Management Research: Applying the Principles by Susan Rose, Nigel Spinks
> Research Methods for Business and Management by Kevin O'Gorman, Robert MacIntosh
> Theory and Practice of Leadership by Roger Gill
Have some downtime. Would anyone read a book on how to lead successful tech strategy assessments? (Willing to pay for it? $9.99?)

I feel like it's strictly a techie thing to watch videos at 2x speed. None of my buddies outside of tech even know that option exists on video haha.
My boss doesn't get how infuriating is is when he overpromises what the engineering team can do, just because he adores the sales manager doesn't mean we can make it happen quickly
Thoughts on EY risk advisory?
Best books to read when starting your own business, but also embody imposter syndrome & validation issues. Anything from self-help, psychology & business is welcome. TY x
Tax lawyers: what do you guys actually do?
I want to save more and so many people suggest stop eating out and cook at home. I hate cooking especially the clean up afterwards, but I usually cook 4-5 days a week. We are a family of 5 so by the weekend I am done cooking and just want to relax. My ask is how to enjoy cooking at home andwhat else can I do to save other than not eat out?
Additional Posts in In-House Counsel
3rd year tech transactions big law associate looking for a remote in house gig. Any suggestion as to where to apply?
What questions would you like to see asked or answered in a panel on burnout for in-house counsel?
I interviewed with a big pharma company last week. They said 2 more rounds of interviews with offers in early to mid April so I assumed things were moving quick. Im coming from small firm, not in-house. If I haven’t heard from them by the end of the week is it safe to assume I didn’t make it to round 2? Or does in-house always move slowly?
Looking for advice on dealing with a boss who is extremely difficult to work for. For example, my colleague has worked entirely remotely since COVID hit in March. She had planned to make 2 trips out to her family out of state during the holidays (for Thanksgiving & Christmas) but recently requested to stay during the interim, when it looked like her apartment might be under voluntary evacuation due to wildfires. Said colleague lives alone and found it beneficial to be around family (cont below)
Boss is gaslighting? Just experienced this for the first time - and would love to hear others’ experiences, too. For the past few years, my micromanager boss asked that I send them every draft of every contract to review, no matter how minor. In my performance review, when asked why I wasn’t promoted, they said that a reason was because I need to learn to stop sending them drafts to review! I said that I only did this because they asked for it, and they said they don’t remember saying that!
My Legal department reports to HR. We used to report to the CEO. What’s the knee-jerk reaction to directly reporting to HR?
Anyone else’s legal dep’t report to someone other than the CEO, CFO or Board?
What are some questions that you wished you asked in the interview process for going in-house?
Has anyone moved from antitrust private practice to a non-antitrust in-house role? If so, what kind of role?
Recently moved in-house and struggling with how to document my contributions (keep a “brag list” if you will) for purposes of review season and eventual bonus/promotion/raise discussions. At a firm it was fairly easy to point to high billables, high profile deals, praise from particular partners or clients. Now I’m struggling because my work is so….day to day. Mostly negotiating typical sales contracts. Very few opportunities for visibility or high profile contributions if that makes sense.
Any one in compliance at an investment bank? What was interview process like? How long is interview process?
Does anyone have any insight into culture at Apple Content Legal (or in-house legal at Apple generally)?
Do in-house roles have conflicts checks?
I have been offered a position in-house at a $500M-$1B company, mid-sized city LCOL, 10 YOE in private practice. They offered me $120k, w opp for undefined discretionary bonus. No paid parental leave or 401(k) match & only 1 week PTO in first year (but claim they have discretion for more). Is there any way to salvage this? Salary guides suggest TC should be around $200-215k. I want to get my foot in the door but this seems crazy low.
Calling all employment lawyers…please share the following details: base comp, bonus, equity, YOE, private vs public company, industry.
Doing a remote interview tomorrow for an in-house position that I really want. Invite says "[company] is a startup, so a full suit is not necessary! Business casual attire is recommended." Like I said, I really want this job, and the idea of not wearing a suit is just weird to me
Should I still wear the suit or would it be counter productive?
Can anyone recommend any business books for - new in house counsel? I feel like I am totally lost when it come to the business side of the company I work for. I work for a software startup if that helps. Thanks!
