I've been in-house a few years and I have the legal skills needed to do my job down reasonably well. One thing I know I need work on is understanding skills and knowledge of working within the corporate world and skills needed for ascending to leadership roles. This ranks high on the list of "things I think that would be helpful to my practice that is fully not covered in law school." Does anyone have any books/podcasts/general resources that they found helpful in their career?

Evangelicals did sell their soul to the false prophet, didn’t they? From Cohen’s book: Trump held a meeting at Trump Tower with prominent evangelical leaders, where they laid their hands on him in prayer. Afterward, Trump said: “Can you believe that bulls--t? Can you believe people believe that bulls--t?”. The cosmic joke was that Trump convinced a vast swathe of working-class white folks in the Midwest that he cared about their well-being, Cohen writes

Team- need advice. I've been trying to break into strategy for 2 years. I'm at the junior level, but I already managed to bring a new client to my agency, build their brand book and helped lead focus groups. It's like I'm a junior planner without the title. How can I finally break in?

Hello, All! I'm looking for recommendations on inspirational content for women leaders. I follow TEDWomen, many podcasts, and the Women's Conference among other sources. I'd love to hear a fresh perspective on business, trends, tech, marketing, equality in the workforce, etc. I'd love to learn something new. I'm at the VP level and have started a couple of companies, so nothing too junior, but open to many topics. Please share any speakers, books, webinars, or events that you may come across.

Recommend good books on project mgmt!

There are far too much books on leadership (how to inspire and develop people), but not so much on how to manage projects (timeline, stakeholders, risks, etc.)

I believe improving one’s sales conversion rate is something everyone want to improve but no one wants to admit they would like to work it. Funny how lawyers will spend thousands on seminars to improve trial skills. But this topic is not discussed in our profession. I have read books in sales. But am unable to find any for lawyers. I want convert every lead I can. Does anyone have tips, books, cle’s or studied this topic?

I interviewed with a big pharma company last week. They said 2 more rounds of interviews with offers in early to mid April so I assumed things were moving quick. Im coming from small firm, not in-house. If I haven’t heard from them by the end of the week is it safe to assume I didn’t make it to round 2? Or does in-house always move slowly?

Boss is gaslighting? Just experienced this for the first time - and would love to hear others’ experiences, too. For the past few years, my micromanager boss asked that I send them every draft of every contract to review, no matter how minor. In my performance review, when asked why I wasn’t promoted, they said that a reason was because I need to learn to stop sending them drafts to review! I said that I only did this because they asked for it, and they said they don’t remember saying that!
