Say nothing...it's really no one's business.
Frankly I can’t help you because I’m confused why you need to make up so many excuses. Do lawyers in your office pester each other whenever someone has a red busy sign near their name for an hour and a half? I would never think to ask another “oh why are you ooo later?” I just assume it work/personal and none of my business.

The big question is why can’t you WFH? I guess this is one reason why you’re leaving 🤔
Lol my friend went so far as to make up that her sister was getting engaged. And when she got back people were like omg can we see pictures?? And she was like…no…
Apparently she panicked when asked where she was going.

During ski season, if I need an excuse for a morning or afternoon and someone is really pressing, UTIs are great excuses. You’re not really sick but might be MIA for a few hours when it’s bad or you need to go to the doctor or whatever, and many people get recurring ones. Men tend to not ask what’s up, but women often do and this is golden.
Sorry, I think I need to clarify. We have a lot of client calls in my practice, so I do need actual excuses to get out of things. Sometimes the partner can take the call, but other times I’m supposed to be taking the lead. In the latter, it looks awkward when I’ve blocked off huge chunks of my day with no explanation. Maybe I am paranoid and no one cares.
Ah yes, that clarification makes more sense. And is it the type of practice where the partner will know you’re lying if you say you have another call on another matter at that time?
Yeah that does suck. Sorry I can’t be more help!

Lol no.
“Internet at home went out and I have to wait for cable company to arrive.” Then complain later about how the tech was late and couldn’t figure anything out, had to call in a supervisor, etc etc…”BUT NOW ITS FIXED SO I CAN WORK AT NIGHT AND ON WEEKENDS! Lucky me!”
Went through the same thing with a managing partner who severely micromanaged, so I get it. Ultimately, any concern that people care where you are is just paranoia. No one really does

I lie about having calls for pro bono matters or other matters the asking partner is not involved in. Lol?
