To all the freelancers: if you get asked to do a “writing assignment” - make sure you say you’re billing for your time. Don’t do free work! Was interviewing a junior today who mentioned they did a test at another shop (for free). Doesn’t matter if you’re entry level - you deserve to be compensated for your time and the ideas you contribute. Some places will take advantage and use those “tests” to fuel the work. So regardless, get paid!

Corporate paralegal - i’m moving to a different firm and need to provide list of clients/matters for conflicts check. I’ve worked on hundreds of matters so I’m limiting to ones where I worked 10 hours or more. But how do I know which transactions are confidential or where the parties might be confidential? I don’t want to breach any confidentiality but realistically I dont have any privileged info except on maybe one or two transactions where I was deeply involved.

I have some remote colleagues in another country and we discussed salaries recently. They're making significantly less than me, even though we do the same work. Is this fair because they live in cheaper countries?

Question for partners/counsel: some have posted that you’d “know” if an associate was slow/busy. How do you know? Do you check hours for associates you work with frequently? Does someone reach out to you re: people they think have availability? (Assume a firm closer to the free market end of the spectrum).

I’m an associate on the busy side, but I’ve never gotten the impression that partners I work with know how busy I am unless (1) I’m primarily working for them or (2) I tell them.

What is the compensation at Pfizer like for a manager level role? 5 years of industry experience of which 2ish years is similar to consulting at a CRO.
What should I expect for base, bonus, and RSU? Any highlights from their benefits?

Just curious. When resigning do you wait for all the background checks to complete for the new job and then resign, or do you assume it’ll all work out and resign anyway?
