I’ve been lucky enough to go to Europe a few times as a kid and I want my fiancé and I to go there on our honeymoon. We’ll be going 5+ months after the wedding and I want to go to a few different countries and I am curious if anyone has used a travel agent? We never used them growing up and I don’t like structured tours or all inclusive type vacations but it would be helpful for booking flights or specific towns to stay in. Has anyone just done it on their own or did you find the agent helpful?

My dream is to fly into Dublin and stay for 2 days, fly over to London for 2 days and then take the Chunnel to Paris for a day. After I want to spend a week in Italy. I know this is ambitious but I think it’ll an experience of a lifetime but probably pretty exhausting.

I did a very similar trip right after college before working. I was traveling by myself and doing mostly hostels so it wasn’t luxurious but it was fantastic. I had a rough plan of my trip and a few legs of it booked in advance but other things I did in country so I had the flexibility to say, wow I’m really liking Galway I’ll stay an extra night. I wouldn’t say I’m an advance traveler and I had no issue booking flights and hotels. Many European cities are great for travelers in that way. The one thing would be if you are looking for something really luxurious and want more recommendations.

I have a chase sapphire preferred card and plan on using the travel agency that comes with it to book flights and hotels! Just for booking the basics. I plan on figuring out the rest ourselves. We're going to Madiera and the Azores (both islands part of Portugal) and will be renting a car to explore for our honeymoon.

The benefits are so good!!! They've even moved non-refundable flights for me (day of)! I plan on calling them (it's a number on the back!) And asking them to book flights and hotels, specifically saying it's for our honeymoon so that they'll ask for perks

Seems too exhausting for a honeymoon, but these are all major cities so I don’t see a need for a travel agent. Easier to book exactly what you want. Personally I’d recommend narrowing to two countries or even one.

I know the first week will be a tad exhausting but that’s why I want the second week to be more calm and just in a city or two in Italy. Growing up we only ever spent a few days in each city before moving on to a different country or city and I always enjoyed it more than when we spread things out.

It could be easier to have someone plan the entire itinerary but depends on what you like? If you don't like structured tours or being in groups maybe you can find independent tours/experiences? AirBnb has experiences you could check it out? Also probably reading some travel guides / watching travel vlogs could be helpful. My friends rented a car in Ireland and had a great time making their own itinerary.

Yeah I agree with D1, you’ll spend more time in transit than you will enjoying the cities. Dublin you can do in 2 days no problem, but 2 for london and Paris doesn’t make sense.

I’ve been to London three times before so I don’t want to spend more than a 2 days there. I was considering skipping it overall but it’s just a good hub to travel out of

Hey team need some help - I’ve flown United since I was a child, and naturally I’ve flown with them through and through my consulting career. I just flew on Delta for the first time and it was so much nicer than what I’ve been used to. What’s loyalty like here at Delta - and is it worth status matching and becoming Delta loyal? NYC based if that makes any difference. TIA!!
