I had to stop taking any stimulants because they were exacerbating some cardiac issues. I worked with an ADHD coach to put some systems in place to help me be successful and I've had to go hard on some exercise in the mornings to help myself be productive. I can definitely tell my symptoms are back but it beats feeling awful. I also do drink a lot of coffee now - I can tolerate caffeine and it does seem to help as a lower level stimulant.
I've also had to give up my gunner in big law mentality and to be okay with doing really good work, but less of it. I'm still learning how to be more kind to myself and there's a lot of therapy involved there. It's hard but ultimately how you manage your ADHD (and build your life around your ADHD) is a super personal choice.
Try to lower your dosage. Some dosages seem low (since everyone seems to be taking at least 30mg) but everyone reacts differently to medication. You are not supposed to feel that way!
I second this. Also, consider talking to your doc about alternate medications. Like D1 said, everyone reacts differently to different dosages and medication types. For example, Vyvanse was torture for me, but Adderall works fine. Adderall was torture for my sister, but other meds worked for her. If you want to stay on medication, you may have options still to explore.

Agree on an adhd coach. Also you might try Strattera. That’s what I’m on now cuz I just couldn’t deal with some of the side effects I was having with stimulants.

A2 - I started transitioning to Strattera almost a year ago. It takes an entire month to take effect, and it doesn’t work for everyone, so you spend basically four weeks unmedicated on a gamble (I spent a lot of time in therapy during that month lol). But for me it was worth it.
I was on Concerta before that (and had tried a few other stimulants) and I just didn’t like the way it affected my mood. I tended to be more anti-social and had trouble connecting to people. I also had lower libido and just generally didn’t feel like myself. With that said, I took Concerta for years and the benefits definitely outweighed the costs for a long time.
Now with Strattera, I feel more “myself” but I still have the benefit of medication. I’ve had some issues with dizziness, indigestion from the medication but I have a routine now that has made that mostly go away (take my medication at the same time everyday, take it with food, eat lots of probiotics).
Lmk if you have any other questions.
