I’ve been on my job 16 years and been in a very toxic work environment over 3 years now. I find that some unions make things hard just to do it. I am very burned out and tired of a toxic work environment. Is private sector a bit different? I've considered that!

There are toxic work environments in the private sector as well. I'd say just do plenty of research to determine what a company's culture is like before you accept any offer. Ask on here, check the reviews on Glassdoor, reach out to former or current employees on LinkedIn. As long as you do your homework, you should be able to find somewhere you'll be treated well.

It's really specific to each company it seems. Fortunately, there are websites like Glassdoor now that provide a bit more transparency

Glassdoor is generally my go-to, I've also contacted people who used to work at companies I was interested in. Figured it's better than going to a current employee who might not be 100% honest

Adding to the first comment about doing your homework on any potential companies, if you can, I would suggest digging further and trying to get in contact with people in the specific department/division of the company you are interested working in. I’ve found that, even within one company, culture can be VERY different from one department to another.

It's a hit or miss as well with the private sector. Toxicity never does go away, it just changes shape. If you are weighing the options though, I suggest you should research intensively what industry you really want to go to before making the leap.

Based on experience, I think the private sector is more toxic. I mean, it will always be there. We just need to be lucky sometimes to land a "less toxic" job.

FACT: Workers themselves are the union. A union is a democratic organization of workers standing up for their rights on the job and in society.

I'm grateful and super excited, and now that I've achieved this goal I'm wondering what actions or habits I need to take at work to put my self in a position to eventually be promoted to senior engineer or possibly into a management or principal role down the line? Any advice, resources or critiques are appreciated!

Any particular segment of sales good for ex-finance? Currently 3 years in at fortune 100 bank on business development side (on commercial loan originations team but no commission/targets at the associate level, basically do credit analysis and build pitch books for the producers) This role has been great as I have gotten both analytical experience and tasted sales experience (I say taste bc I’m not the producer) but would potentially like to transition to a sales role that is less analytical

I’m in IT in a large corp and I don’t know what to do. I’m the systems engineer and I planned around what I thought was a straight forward concept. It appears what I thought would be possible was wrong. Everyone celebrated thinking I’d figured it out, including me. Were spinning up a full team to build it and I’ve exhausted all avenues to find an alternative solution. There isn’t. Horrified this is a career limiting situation….

How will I get onsite opportunity in Accenture?

This might be a dumb question, but I’m relatively new to marketing and trying to learn about different types of agencies. Are media agencies involved in the creative process at all or it’s literally just media planning and buying? I’m looking at different company websites like omd, mindshare, etc. and it looks to me like they are doing projects that creative agencies typically do. Is there a big difference these days between a creative agency and a media agency or there is a lot of overlap?

How much hike can I expect outside? Just wanted to check if I am getting correct package here or underpaid considering current market trends.

Is it good to look outside now or should I try for the onshore opportunities within Accenture?
