Lateral hire? Don't worry. Keep networking and working with your RM, while spending time on firm work.

New hires are fine for a while...can't be expected to build a network out of thin air

I am an experienced hire (non mba), hired for a very specific skill set. Getting pulled into a lot of firm work, I'm just not used to all this waiting around

Thanks for the advice all! I just talked to someone who didn't get staffed for 7 months, so that makes me feel better

Calm down. Network and read a lot. Always normal to have a ramp up period.

Relax. Enjoy it. I bitched about going to be on the bench before going on the bench, then I was on the bench for a day. A friggin day. Barely had time to fart. Regretted being so eager. I wish I waited a week before reaching out for projects like a maniac. Enjoy it lull but keep learning.

I know everyone is telling you not to worry about it and enjoy it and that doesn't make it any better...but seriously, don't worry about it and enjoy it. I was on the bench for 5 months when I started. It happens. Network, do all the trainings you won't have time to do later, come into the office every Friday and go to all the happy hours.

What level OP? Doesn't help with year end - just more stressful.

Even better if you are a new MBA hire..you are safe for a whole year :)

What practice? Experienced hire?

If you're an analyst or C, I might have something for you right away.

For those willing or bold enough to share: For EOY reporting are you bench marking against 2020 or 2019 or both? What about for projecting 2022? I’m torn looking at 2020 as an outlier or including both years to be more objective? We had a good year this year and it compares fine next to 2020 numbers. My thinking here is events impact our lead gen and revenue numbers and as we all know this year events slowly started up. Looking forward to 2022 having even more events 🤞 Hopefully no variants

Need advice for resigning while on bench. I already have a start date with the new employer. Should I do a traditional two week notice or give <=1 week notice instead? My goal is to not burn bridges, but I also don’t want to get let go on the spot since I have nothing to “wrap up” besides HR tasks. I’ve read on here that sometimes they will let you go day of and pay you out for two weeks but I don’t see why any firm would do that for somebody not currently performing billable work...

Ever been promoted at your firm while on a project and you have to be rolled off bc your billable rate is higher than what the client has budgeted? Or does your firm find this as an opportunity to renegotiate the SoW?

I’d like to ask for 135k plus 10k sign-on since I’m forfeiting 5k bonus and another 8-9k in unvested 401k. Is that reasonable? I’d be ok with 130k and 5k sign-on
