Do you have a good maternity leave package where you are currently? My advice would be to carry on with the search but don’t be disheartened if you have to stay in your current position a bit longer. Transitioning to a new job whilst being pregnant can be a lot (though not impossible) and most places will require you to pass a qualifying period before you’re entitled to anything. So if your current employer gives you the security, I would take it and use part of your maternity leave to search for a new role.
Yes, I have up to 12 weeks guaranteed and they’re pretty flexible with me taking more time if I need it and my disability coverage is employer paid. This has been one of the big reasons I’ve wanted to stay through the end of my maternity leave
Don't give up! You still have time. Unless maybe your current job has amazing maternity leave and benefits.
I was in a similar situation last year. I stayed at my employer to take advantage of the maternity benefits. Most employers don’t allocate maternity benefits until a year of employment (when FMLA typically kicks in). You may be eligible for short-term disability, but you may not get nearly as much time off as you would from your current employer. In this situation, it’s really up to what you need during this time. You can always polish your resume and job hunt during your maternity leave. But if you are just OVER it, I would continue to look at your options. Best of luck!
Thank you! That’s what I’m leaning towards since I’ll have a good chunk of time off
