What do you mean, know how they work?
It’s a pretty serious thing and combining of assets and bundling of legal rights. Not something to be done lightly just “for the insurance.”

Surely that depends on who exactly you’re married to and their income etc?
Consult a good tax advisor and a marriage attorney. Else you will spend a multiple of what you think you will save. Marrying for money rarely ends well unless you’re the poor one marrying someone significantly richer, and the prenup allows you to get a good share in the event of divorce, or death of your spouse.
Marriage isn’t a tax benefit if you both work… or at least if both are decently successful. The higher tax rate for combined income is brutal.
I have been looking into platonic co-parenting. I’ve never really seen myself as a person who wants to be one person forever but every time I try to explain this, I feel like the heteronorm wants to attack me.
