I’ve been seeking out (free) professional development podcasts and series, more for in-house than law generally (so avoiding the multitude of Supreme Court analysis podcasts). Wondering if anyone has found anything they like in this category? My list is below:

-TechGC Data Protection Breakfast Club
-Law Insider’s Contract Teardown (YouTube)
-Counsel by Mel Scott
-Fit to Practice by Angela Han

Not sure this is quite what you’re looking for (it’s more career-profile interviews with attorneys from across the profession) but I really enjoy How I Lawyer.

I’ll look into it, thanks!

The Jordan Harbinger show is a great self help podcast that, while not focused on law, is hosted by an ex big law lawyer and has great insights and some fun law anecdotes as well.

I would also look to find a mentor within local circle or via your larger LinkedIn network. Mentoring is one of the most important things you can receive and also give to someone else.

Of that list I only consider DPBC to be helpful. Rest I would focus on building an in house network rather than listening to stuff. That to me far more productive.

I feel the same way about people looking for book recommendations about in house practice. It's really best to build a network and learn practical tips that way.

I don't listen to any but if there are good general business podcasts, I'd do that after DPBC personally. :)

Appreciate your support! I would also recommend Crafty Counsel, The Legal Ops Podcast and Pearls On, Gloves Off with Mary O’Carroll

New to Toronto, moved to the west end of town/ just past - in Etobicoke. I celebrate my 40th a few days after NYE/NYD - would love some recommendations on moderately priced but nice ambiance restaurants for myself + husband, and my extended family. Everyone is scattered throughout (Hamilton, Barrie, Lyle, Newmarket, North York). Don’t want anything too fancy but don’t really know where or what is good and not downtown.

Any recommendations? (Open to GTA of course).

I work for a mid-sized company (almost 500 employees) with a legal team of 3 and am curious about how our approach to contracts compares with others. Every single contract the company signs goes through legal review, and we always have revisions (we have specific terms we typically request). I’m talking every contract, down to the coffee vendor (not to minimize the significance of coffee). Is this normal? Sometimes it feels like a huge waste of time for low-risk concerns.
