I've been taking the silver line shuttle to Boston south station instead of an uber to save the client money, but I almost just got trampled and a suitcase fell on me. Never again 😰🙅🏻

Forget penny pinching if you're going to be doing this without burning out.

Why do you need to save client money?

like

Safety first. No client budget should be that narrow on the margins

like

Fuck that noise. I don't mind ghosting hours but if you're plucking me away from my home for the weekdays I will enjoy the niceties where I can find them. Traveling is hellish enough already.

like

Thanks guys. I grew up with nothing, so money-saving is my default mode 😔

I totally get you OP. I spent a while not making status on flights or hotels because I felt bad spending the money when there was possibly a slightly cheaper option available. Until I spent a weird night at a la Quinta inn in Chicago with no food (no room service and not too safe a neighborhood to venture out). My SM politely told me to stop being stupid and compromising on things as basic as food and safety. I still try to fly the cheapest flight though.

like

They don't want us to waste money but you need to be alive and safe to do all the work so spend some and take care of yourself.

like

I know the feeling OP. I was like that too, until I realized that you set a shitty precedent for yourself for what you think you are worth. Don't ever put yourself in trouble because of work, not only is it not worth it in the short term, it's also really shitty for your reputation in the long term because you'll be expected to pinch pennies on every project.

Travel can be brutal without the perks. Spend the $$$$$

Oh damn. Good point, @K1. Def not the precedent I want to set.

How did you break into Product management ? I’ve been applying to Associate Product Management roles for 2 years(over 400 applications), and only got 3 interviews . I’ve worked as an Operations M, Sn Sales representative and recently a Project M. I’ve done side projects , tailored my resume, connected with recruiters , for all that time I’ve been expanding my knowledge, getting Google UX design certification and Product Management specialization courses . 2 years later, I’m still looking.

Question: The company that you are working for offers cloud managed services and has been approached by a potential client. What are some areas (or red flags) you would consider before responding to their RFP? ( I started putting together a response but would love to get your insights) Answer: 1) Understanding of current annual spending vs spending if they adopted our cloud services 2) Clients expected growth rate 3) Regulatory requirements depending on industry (medical, fed etc)
