Language line has the best interpreter services. I’m not sure if it’s offered in your area but it’s worth looking into. They have translator iPads and they even offer an app you could use on your phone. They may also offer in person translators.
You’re welcome! I had a really pleasant experience when I was LEP coordinator with them. Good luck!
I'm not 100% sure where we found ours, but this resource might be helpful. https://myaccount.rid.org/Public/Search/Member.aspx
Maryland- we used ad astra and hired some on staff asl interpreters. We also used cyracom which I think had some inperson available but wasn’t I. Our contract. You can possibly contact the school for the deaf in maryland for suggestions. Ask interpreters are hard to find an expensive due to a limited number of individuals who the school allow to be certified every year. Make sure your vendors are certified, pass their tests and take all hipaa courses. You are not required for a have an inperson it can be a virtual asl, but that also depends on the patient needs and your device connectivity. Goodluck!
Essentially federal guidelines allow virtual interpreters on screens as well as on-site as long as each clinical team member knows how to adequately use the devices and that wifi is OPTIMAL for best video connection as ASL signs are so fast you can’t have any glitches. With the tech needed to provide that caliber - you’re better off getting an on-site interpreter but the cost is significant. Your accountants can check whether that expense can be coded for a tax write off
