Hust wondering where I went wrong 🤷♂️
It’s the network, last a lifetime
You can do weekend or evening Mba while working.
Anywhere do an MBA at the M3/SM level with a mortgage and a weekend life and think it was worth it? Part-time over the weekend seems like you're only getting half the benefit of an MBA while destroying your life
You’ve gotta be planning a transition for it to make sense - e.g. to MBB or Ibanking or whatever
Looking at my pre and post mba salary, I’ll break even after 2.5 years, even considering the lost income. If you get an internship between years in school you’re really only out of work for like 18 months.
MBA tripled my salary and doubled my all-in
It all depends on where you are going to take it. Straight up MC and a grad degree in a variety of areas will suffice. Pedigree MBA and the total cost (including lost wages while employee) should be included in the value calc as well as a path towards a firm that will add the comp to justify the expense. Many places like to see the advanced degree boxed checked. They neither care in what or from where.
My break even calc was around 8 years, but I was a career switcher so it made more sense. My pay went from 78k Yr in industry to around 125k. This was 2007-2009.
Look at the average all-in salary on the other end for T15 programs: it's usually about 160 for MBB and 150 for IB. I won't even get into buyside roles.
BA1: where are you headed?
D1, What level did you leave to get your MBA and what level did you return?
Was more about the network and 2 years of learning new stuff. Was so much fun, I’d do it again if I could.
I broke even in a few weeks. Did significantly cheaper mba from a top 20 school online.
Definitely worth it. Coming in from top MBA is around 170-180k total comp.
