Hopefully you'll get your clearance soon! I'd just be honest with your HR and supervisor, federal government tends to be a lot more understanding than private practice. On an aside, I'm not sure if you'd qualify for paid maternity leave tho, if you have worked in fed gov for less than a year. You should be able to get unpaid, and use some sick leave you accure
Thanks so much! Yes, from what I understand I won’t be eligible for any paid leave since I’ll have worked there (and in the fed gov) for less than a year, but could request unpaid leave and see what they can accommodate. Luckily we can make do with my husband’s income for a few months.
Yeah, in my former gov job, we had someone do exactly what you’re describing and there was absolutely zero ill will. I wouldn’t stress at all. Everyone understands that you can’t control the security clearance process/timeline, and our office (like gov in general) was VERY accommodating of family obligations.
This makes me feel so much less stressed - thank you!
Congratulations! I have had it happen with two coworkers at two different agencies and everyone has been super understanding at both. Definitely wouldn’t stress it 😊
Thank you!
