I considered taking an internship at a great shop 3 years in. It was international so it didn’t work out. I landed at a great shop after 4 years. It’s all about timing. If it’ll launch your career in the city you want to be in, it’s worth the temporary financial hit. Just make sure you get paid at least something ;)

As long as you feel you can prove yourself once you get there, it could be a great way to get in the door! But yes, make sure you get paid something, nothing comes free these days.
