I've been working at my job for 8 years and never got a raise I asked three times got turned down all three times they have a person that is doing the same job I'm doing but they got her title under a different title from me but we're both doing the same job and she's getting paid more than me I don't think that's fair I'm very angry

That is illegal. I wouldn't recommend going through that route of suing a company. Still, it is definitely an option if you feel you are being compensated differently. I recommend having a 1-on-1 meeting with your supervisor or manager and bringing up your situation. I also recommend highlighting what will be the route to get a raise and having that written down and reviewed 6 months after.

Ugh, that sounds absolutely awful and like they do not appreciate you or all of the hard you do. It has been eight years, I think it is time to find a role that will pay and treat you better.

It’s time for you to leave. I’m not sure how your job is structured with step increases but if you’re not being paid what you think you should be then start looking for a new job. You could also have HR evaluate your job classification, level and step to see if you can have it changed.

Pretty much this. The situation doesn't get better and I see threads like this on here all the time - although in different bowls, but it speaks to the same issues. If you see something unfair/not right, flagging it doesn't actually change anything. You're better off leaving the situation.

Is your role unionized? If so, you should reach out to them and share this. This may be an issue where you can get support from your union and they can advocate on your behalf.

If you're structured anything like my state's government, then you should be able to request an audit to have your position description updated to match what you actually do. I did this when I switched from a secretary to a department tech, which moved me out of the secretarial pathway and allowed for my eventual graphic design position.

That sounds awful. I think it's about high time that you found a new job that will value your work. If they still think that you're not deserving of a raise, then that's their problem. Good luck to them on filling in the position.

That's so unacceptable. You should start looking for another job. You deserve more and I know you'll find a better job. Best of luck!

I am being interviewed currently for a role of principal bizops engineer with MasterCard, would like to know about the grade (l5, l6?), also what could be my CTC expectations if it reaches to that point. I have 14+ years of total experience. I am a devops professional.

My final round with Deloitte for UK Tech Consulting Manager position soon. Strangely it’s not a PMD round as it usually is for other Big4/tech consulting firms.

What is a typical salary to expect? I was asked in screening but kept it vague (e.g can discuss later bla bla). I was hoping 75-80 (ridiculous?)

Hi ! Looking for advice. I’ve been with a company in BC for 2.5 years, started support role, promoted to smb AE a year ago. salary is 65k with uncapped commission. We recently did layoffs, I was kept however there have been changes & meeting quota has become difficult & we have a way heavier workload. The perks are amazing but I need to make more money. Do you think I could get a role with more money with my experience that’s fully remote even in this “recession”..thoughts?

Hi all, I’ve been pondering this question in my mind for awhile and haven’t found any solid answers. How much is the average wage for a Prep Cook & Dishwasher? If it matters, I’m in Virginia. Any insights will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi all,

I just came to realise
Deutsche Bank has a fixed rule of max 30 to 35 % hike on fixed component and remaining 10 to 15% variable i.e. total 50% max hike you can ask for no matter how good, skilled you are.

Is it true?

There are a few smaller agencies in my city that I specifically adore and i’ve reached out/applied to open roles etc. One of them I even have a friend at, she has told me they are dying for more designers right now, but also so busy they struggle to make time for the hiring process.

Does anyone have tips on how to get past this sort of wall?

It seems like everyone is in agreement that switching firms gives you a salary boost, but that you could be viewed as someone that doesn’t stick around. Has anyone felt like they got held back from jumping firms every 2-3 years for the salary bump? I know peers that bounced around 2-4 times in a 7 year span and they are making significantly more money than if they stayed at their first job, however it didn’t seem like any of the new companies cared that they bounced around. Other experiences?
