I’ve been working at Paycor for about 3 years now under the Implementation department. I love my role but I can’t deal with the clients anymore. I have 9 years of work experience under my belt and want to move into a role more focused on organizational development which is under HR. I obtained my MBA focusing on org dev in 2020 and have been looking for a way to move into that area since. My question is what type of role should I be looking for? The depts are so different and I’m lost.

If your company has a trend of hiring from within, HR is a good resource to have a chit chat about your desire to move. You probably know this already, but NEVER bring up the fact that you are just done with customers, package your desire in a way that'll be a win for you and the company. Good luck!

Thank you! You’re right they do have a trend of hiring within and my mentor at the company has already suggested a couple networking connections for me so I can start making moves. She knows I’m ready to be done with client facing work but that definitely won’t be told to HR! I’m planning on wording it in a way you mentioned so it’s a win win for everyone with this move.

Question: I currently work as an inside sales account manager selling a wide portfolio of IT products. I’ve been recruited for a role that would be an outside sales role selling ONLY a software solution that Im able to sell at my current company (but usually don’t due to other options that we are compensated better off of.) The new role would have some overlap with current customers that I work closely with now (one being a VERY large client.) Would this violate a non-compete/solicitation?
