I’ve been working for this company for 4 years. The raises I got were a few cents on the dollar per year. Over the years I have coworkers put their letter of resignation, and they get offered huge advances to stay. I was looking to do the same but very nervous. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I understand the inner turmoils you’re going through. There are different ways you can achieve your goal of an increase without moving to the “resignation”. Have you kept track of your cost savings to your organization? The achievements you’ve had? Perhaps in your discussion with your leadership, bring up your loyalty and commitment. Highlight additional responsibilities that you have taken on that warrant a re-evaluation of your current salary, as the 4 years have passed your role has evolved and therefore requires a reassessment. If this aspect doesn’t work, then you may want to consider other options.

The salary negotiations bowl is an excellent resource. I’ve recently been in your shoes and I did a competitive analysis ( of sorts) I found out what the salary range was for my job in my market by scheduling informational interviews (zoom calls) and I asked all kinds of monetary and non monetary questions. I got the salary range for my market, for my job. I went in with this as well as data on my achievements and goals met. I told them I didn’t want to leave, but I wanted to be paid what I was worth. I told them it was important for them to foster my growth as well, I’m worth more because I’m a proven performer in my job. They offered a 10% raise, I countered with 20%, some back and forth ended up with 17% and a “stretch goal” (which was already on my personal to do list for my job). I’m happy again. Oh and I also asked for annual salary reviews so “we” can keep growing.

I was offered an administrative position after I was officially offered the position, I asked if it was possible to negotiate the compensation. I was told that I’ve agreed to the compensation when I applied. My response was that if my 12 years of experience was considered. I was told the compensation team was gonna be contacted and rapidly ended the call. I followed up with an email, Is being 2 days with no response. Should I move on?

helpful

Interviews need to be monitored and recorded. I can’t tell you how many disappointed dreams I have been sold. It is a complete waste of time to really wait around to be wishful of a call. Gathering up 10 potential applicants to narrow it down to a top 3 and only make one offer is not acceptable. Much like jury duty, applicants should be compensated for their time.
