I’ve decided my New Year’s resolution for 2021 will be to manage stress better. Any tips?

Start incorporating mindfulness meditation at least once a day. Develop an exercise routine. Extra self-care like bathing, skincare, and proper diet. Structure and staying ahead of surprises is important too.

Spend (and SAVOR) at least 15 indulgent minutes alone each day. Could be thinking, on a walk, a long shower, a good stretch sesh before bed — it’s more a mindset thing, being aware of yourself in those 15 minutes, grateful for and connected to who you are, working out a problem, or giving yourself clear space to do absolutely nothing

Heard recently and I’m going to apply it 2021: 1) focus on exactly what you need, only after you’ve assessed and identified the ASK or REQUEST or PROBLEM etc. (do NOT start into tackling) 2) assess if you possess what you need to tackle X (have you identified the ask and who is asking) 3) double check if there is even an ask or a problem? 4) confirm this ask etc. inventory your solutions 5) go go go go go get solving, take credit, celebrate your accomplishments and NEXT! This may be for professional and personal. Whole point as explained to me was to focus on exactly what I need, focus on my accomplishments to allow for my own career and personal growth. Good luck!

You are welcome

I think you need a goal that is measurable. Saying "better" is awesome and I applaud you for taking steps to be better, how do you know if you succeeded or failed? How do you know if the steps you took were too tiny but you tell yourself, "well it's better"

Find stretching to be a big one for me. Stress leads to tension in the shoulders and all around. Stretching those muscles helps relieve stress and tension.

Other than meditation, try breathing exercises. Look into pranayama.
And start taking Ashwagandha. Really good for managing stress.
I have also realized that eating healthy helps the body with stress.

Breath work / meditation is huge... for stress relief, more mindful living in the moment, and rewiring our brains. It’s a goal of mine this year too

Learn Vedic meditation. Don’t bother with an app or mindfulness, find a teacher who will teach you and fork over the $ - probably between 1,000 and 1,500. But it’s worth it.

Work out

like

Ashwaganda every morning and magnesium every night. Also acupuncture is great for stress and covered by some insurance plans

Agree that you need a more specific goal. Pick something like “get outside for five minutes every day” or “no screen time for an hour after work” or something more bite-sized that has the overall impact of managing stress. This is too broad right now so it’ll be easy to get a week or two into the year and feel discouraged because you don’t know how to succeed at it.

Live in the moment, not the past or future.

A lot of great recommendations above, diet, exercise, meditation, self care all great! I'd love to support, I am sharing exactly stress management and self care tips on Instagram as I've been coaching seniors and staff on just this and have seen considerable change for those who have implemented new routines and mindset! I'm so pissed off. My husband and I been trying for 4 years and went thru 2 IVFs this last year. This month is the only break we had to try naturally and hoped for a Christmas miracle. My ovulation is expected tomorrow so today is the best time to have sex. As we prepare, he walked out of the shower all pissed off saying "this is not going to change anything. You are just forcing me to have sex with you". Im so upset by those words and just got quickly dressed and walked out of the bedroom.

I feel like I only have about an hour of productive time a day. Wake up feeling good and after an hour of working I feel like all my energy has been zapped out of me. I literally look at my screens and can’t focus at all. Thinking I’m severely burnt out. Any advice? I have about 6 weeks left before busy season is done. Have never felt this way before and if I take a day off I’m back to being mostly normal after half a day, but upon returning to work it doesn’t take long to go back to this.

We recently got a peloton so I’ve been doing a peloton ride most evenings and doing weight training three times a week. I have started to see random bruises on my legs and am wondering if this is due to suddenly putting more strain on my body? I’m pale and bruise very easily, but I’m kinda freaked out. Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this.

Tummy flattening - so I been working out for over 8 months mostly lifting. Went from 215 to 190 lbs with increased lean muscle mass and fat down from 21 to 11 %. I am now eating a little calorie surplus since six weeks or so - I feel and look great, but my tummy doesn’t feel as flat as I would like it to be. Still feel bloated at times.. I have seen definition at 12.5% when I was in calorie deficit. Now I am lower and seem to have lost it. Why might that be outside holiday drinking?

What does having abs on a guy mean to you? Is it a chiseled 6-pack that looks great at every angle (8-10% body fat)? Is it solid definition and maybe a 4-pack (11-14% bf)? Or is it just some mild definition that maybe looks good in the right lighting and where you have to flex (15-18% bf)? Some of you say you have abs year round and I’m trying to understand what you mean by that (and if I fall in that category)
