Has anyone sought accommodations for your ADD?
I just created a bowl for attorneys on the autism spectrum/autistic attorneys. I am sharing here in case this might be relevant to anyone here: https://joinfishbowl.com/bowl_xg2f38fuh2 My son is on the spectrum and I realize I likely am, too, after researching more about autism to help him. Feel free to join the bowl if it may be of help to anyone here!

No phone or browser. Take a timed walk. When you get back if you don’t want to work just stare at your inbox and don’t let yourself daydream.
You’ll get so bored that work will be more stimulating.
Haha I love this!!
I have to put my phone on work mode and away from my desk
Clean up inbox, save emails, review industry publications, work on forms, checklists, and other practice aids. I don't really have downtime but these are things I try to do to break up the day instead of getting sucked into social.
I use the app “one sec”, which essentially forces you to pause before opening up certain apps and then reminds you after a while that you’re still on it. Has helped tremendously.
Other than that, down time for me is used to get snacks, take a walk, get a few minutes of sun, bash head against wall, etc.
I haven't heard of this before but I may need to give it a try. I am a mad snacker when I have downtime though. Its def not great.
I use a separate app to lock all my social media accounts for this very reason. I set it to last until I'm done with work for the day. I spend my down times either snacking or walking around.
Yes, what app? I use the built-in parental controls, but they block things that I actually do need in addition to the social media I want to avoid.

I think you can have your phone restrict the amount of time you can spend on certain apps. Not sure if that would help you or not.
I need to have my spouse set the password on my time locks. Too easy for me to override them when I have the code.
I try to leave my phone in a drawer or in the other room. Web browser and sports searches, shopping, etc. can already be so distracting. Nothing on IG or TikTok is ever productive either.

Or… I could just do what I want now. That’s the problem with reward systems and self-set deadlines. I know the guy who set them, and he’s full of it
I try to do something productive like read a chapter of a book, but there's nothing wrong with unwinding on social media you can set a time on your phone to remind you to stop or don't go too long.
I used to do this allll the time. I finally got medication and honestly I have noticed I am not scrolling nearly as much as I used to. I think I used to do it more when I just couldn't focus. Now I turn my phone upside down and I just don't look at it.
I still struggle with this a little. I guess setting an alarm will help you get back to work. It might not work right away but I can already see my progress.
Yeah, except my internet addictions are tumblr and Reddit. I tell myself I’m just going to take a 5 minute break. I don’t even engage or post myself… but I can spend hours scrolling, reading things other people say or argue about. It makes me feel awful and is actually kinda boring, but I can’t seem to stop once I start.
I feel like social media addiction has sapped my creativity. Always passively consuming, never actively creating.
I delete social media apps and the like when i am in particularly busy periods. After a few days of nothing particularly interesting to do on my phone, i reach for it less and productivity tends to tick up a bit. Also, i have a strict policy of not using my work laptop for social media.
Try the pomodoro technique. 25 minutes of uninterrupted work followed by a 5 min break, then every 4th break interval is 15 min (i.e. 25 min work - 5 min break - 25 work - 5 break - 25 work - 5 break - 25 min work - 15 break - repeat). SET A TIMER (this is key). It's the only thing that helps me when I fall into a distraction rut because I know that I can go back to scrolling after "only" 25 min of work. And let yourself enjoy whatever you are doing during your breaks, even if it's not at all productive, that way it is a true break.
