I’ve got a file running iferror(vlookup(),””), it correctly either returns the number from the vlookup or a blank space. I would like to use conditional formatting to highlight cells that return a number. I tried conditional formatting w formula and typing in isnumber(A2) (with the necessary cell range selected) and nothing happened. Any suggestions?

New rule, format only cells that contain, select no blanks

On a hunch, isnumber should work. Make sure the argument of isnumber is a single cell and not a range (if you want the formatting to apply to A2:A100, the formula should still read isnumber(A2)). Also it’s easy to forget to start the conditional formatting formula with an “=“ sign.

Yeah I’ve submitted the project using the format non blanks solution and it worked out, but I’ve wondered since then whether I may have just forgotten the = before the formula. Will probably mess around w a test sheet at some point to see

Advice needed: I have a manager that I do PM work for, including metrics, and often get asked to “re-run the numbers” but this is an incredibly complex process that takes a lot of time to make accurate in excel, even though it’s a single-figure output on a team/teams progress

Is there any way to make them realize the effort that goes into it on my side? I’ve stated before but they mostly brushed it off - worried I backed myself into a corner by not making it sound hard enough the first time
