But absolutely so worth it
Lol get used to it. Puppies take a while to get used to sleeping in the crate. Also they probably need to go out. For the first couple months I was taking my pup out at 12am; 2-3am; 6 am etc
Take a longer walk at night to tire him out and make sure he is done doing his business. My pup cries like that when he has to go out in the middle of the night.
Just keep it up.
- Crate during the day too on occasion, just one-off times for like 20-30 min
- Cover the whole crate in a blanket except door-side
- Lots and lots of treats (mix it up with treats, ice cubes, safe bone) as reward ANYTIME they go in
- Train a command to “crate up” - they’ll see it as a challenge with reward

^agree. I ended up taking PTO when I got my puppy. I was a zombie during the day
How old is the puppy? Puppies don’t have bladder control to hold it all night. You need to take him out every few hours...
Don’t let the dog train you.
Maybe put a blanket over the crate she she can’t see out and ignore the howl or noise made till they give up. It’s a test of will power.
When they whine, take them for a very boring walk outside. No pets, love, attention, etc. They’ll learn that whining only gets them that, and they’ll stop unless they NEED to go out. It’s a chore but once they learn, it’s worth it!
Put some worn pieces of cloth near him. It may help
Take him out of the crate. They aant to be close to you.
Ours did the same. The minute I took him out and let him sleep next to our bed, all was quiet!
btw: we have three in total. We never put them in the crate ever. If there is an emergency at night, they typically will let you know, and you can quickly take them outside.
They want attention. There is a heart pulse stuffed animal that you can get to simulate them snuggling with their brother and sisters. Your puppy misses the litter, and you aren’t giving that worth putting him/her in a crate. Either you let him/her sleep with you or school of hard knocks make the puppy get used to sleeping in a crate at night.
