Need to vent. The team I’m on has spent months and months on finetuning a new program. We are SO PROUD of it. My boss tells us what a great job we did, etc. He presents the final product to upper management and….in our company newsletter this week, uppers thank OUR BOSS on allllll the great work he did, his stellar idea, etc. No mention of anyone else on the team. Now I’m hearing all these great things about my boss and being asked if I got to work on his program. HIS program. (ctd in comments)
No matter your political views, social issue pov, income, or title one thing that cuts through time, views, economics that unites a common people is why the hell Microsoft has not removed rhe F1 help functionality in excel. If you need help in excel the last place you’ll turn to is F1. Microsoft

Look up someone in the role/org you want to be at and copy them.
See how that established person has set up their profile and then follow their format/how they did it (e.g. do they summarize their experience or add bullets, etc). Then set your LinkedIn settings as "Actively looking" and recruiters will reach out to you if you match what they're looking for.
Even if you have no clue how to use LinkedIn, you should be spending a lot of time learning LinkedIn, Glassdoor, updating your resume, applying for positions on those different platforms, etc.
Edit: Make sure you have a profile picture and a lot of the stuff filled out before you start adding people for connections.

Create job search alerts for the titles you're looking for. Reach out to other data scientists in companies you want to apply to (past and present) to see what their day to day is like.
Include the title you're looking for in your headline. Activate "Open to Work" for your profile - either privately to recruiters only or for all when you're done filling out your profile and employment history
