My title is DS but I mostly make reports in SQL. The results of which sometimes affects decisions, but mostly not. I have friends with more experience and skills working on satellite imagery analysis and medical experiments and am a little jealous at how cool those projects sound. Any general advice from the more experienced consultants in how you found a foothold in your career? I understand the skills I have now won’t get me to where I want to be, but also only vaguely know where I want to be.

Jump in and don’t be afraid to fail. Don’t ever think you’re not qualified you’ll be fine. Long nights and managing expectations but in the end you will make it and then be 15 months down your road in 3

I’ll give you an example I have a finance degree and zero ability to write sql yet I’m on a data science project working with a team doing machine learning. By far the dumbest in the room but have learned way more than I thought I was capable

Crypto is a bubble. My friend at Schwab gets calls about Bitcoin from 85 year old ladies who have no idea what it is. My waiter yesterday ranted how cap gains was gonna crush new crypto millionaires who never had money. There are too many people who know nothing about the asset, putting in free fed dollars they can’t afford to lose. Beware
