You’re going to need to hustle for yourself and get out there and find your own job if you’re looking to do something different than you’re doing now. The odds of a recruiter finding you when you’re looking to make a career change are slim. You’ll need to apply on your own and find people at the company who work in similar roles to try to make a connection. Start connecting with people in the marketing department at companies you admire so tthat when they have openings, you’re top of mind.
I find it very important, no matter what company you work for, to learn to diversify yourself. For example, I can do a great job at being a multi-state HR manager for thousands of employees but I have also invested a great deal of time being an expert it other field like: HRIS, recruiting, ATS systems, payroll systems, employment law, HR marketing and etc. I have found that companies like to hire a subject matter expert but find it even better when your able to dabble in lots of other areas. It’s almost like a two-for-one special and it makes your value to the company more. They are less likely to let you walk away over a pay issue when your intertwined in so many other aspects of the business. At the same time, so many companies are trying to do more with less so have extra abilities looks even better on a resume.
I guess I feel stuck when it comes to my resume cause I’ve been doing the same thing for over three years now
