I was at Accenture bench too for ~5 months. Started networking with the people I knew and then landed up in BCG which isn’t perfect and have also had long bench times here but still better than ACN.
That’s a solid way to get yourself out of that opportunity haha. At least, from what I hear, y’all don’t have utilization targets in the same way B4 etc does
If you’re finding yourself with extended bench time, the first month you should focus on getting some certifications. The second month, adjust your resume and apply for jobs. By the third month on the bench, you should be out of there. Any company that allows a bench time of more than 90 days is not managing their resources effectively and you should look to leave.
Are you an analyst?
We recently rolled on an analyst who was on bench for 4+ months but in the current role he is fantastic and works very hard well trained too
How long have you been on the bench?
That’s a lot. Is there nothing you can jump onto or are you getting sidelined? Definitely worth looking elsewhere in either case, especially if it’s affecting you in that way. Good luck!
Hang in there OP!! Currently on the bench as well & it has made my anxiety spike (I feel like I’m losing control). I have found that taking the time to do stuff that I enjoy helps me stay calm such as working out or reading. I hope things get better :)
OP, A2, have you started looking for other opportunities? It might be something wise to do - lessens your anxiety and provides options should the worst happen
Hmm haven’t thought of that! I like where I work when I’m on a project, but being on the bench can be emotionally draining. Having to go through a job search every time you roll off a project can be stressful at times.
Kudos BCG1, what sort of experience do you have prior to BCG and what level?
Jesus 5 months? Are you doing anything to change that? I've been with my company for almost 4 years, over half a dozen clients and have yet to hit the bench once.
Lots and lots and lots of training. I’m pretty low on the totem pole. I’m underqualified for a lot of roles, but too niche for others
