I recommend starting with a non-ablative laser first like Fraxel. Do 3 treatments, a month apart. There’s little to no down time and often this is enough for most people.
If that isn’t enough, check out Scion’s ProFractional ablative laser. It’s hardcore and very expensive but has been the most impactful treatment I’ve done to date. I’ve done it twice, one year apart, and plan to do one more time before I switch tactics again.
Between the Fraxel and ProFractional laser, my scarring has *significantly* decreased and I had a LOT.
Some other things that have been helpful but less so:
- Ferulic acid (Skinceuticals C E Ferulic is tops)
- LED lasers (whether at a facial or my Dennis Gross at-home mask)
- Microneedling (at derm + dermaroller at home)
- Juvederm (“fills” pitted scars and encourages new collagen production)
- Peels (probably least impactful)
Pitted scarring is by far the hardest to get rid of and your skin will never be perfect… but it can get much better. Happy to answer any questions.
Second the profractional.
Ive tried multiple microneedling sessions with PCR, chemical peels, retinol/a, juvederm, special acne scar scrubs, etc. Nothing worked like profractional laser. I paid $2.6k for full face. Took a week to stop bleeding and looking like a red mask on my face. Hurts like your face is on fire but under the skin- but youre NOT allowed to touch it. Second time I did it (two years later) the place prescribed me Oxy to help. First place I just had to ride it through and it subsided two days later. Must avoid the sun for four to six months - recommend doing during winter.
My skin looks phenomenal! This is the only thing that has worked for me where I can actually tell the results from before and after photos.
Get subcision before laser treatments

Are these Also good solutions for acne scarring on the back? I’ve had these scars since hs and just want them gone
Absolutely! I’ve lasered one smaller spot on my back too.
I didn’t do laser treatment I did micro needling instead. The product I used what Skinpen - if you look on their website I believe they will tell you where their product is used.
I had good results. I had very bad scars as well and eventually took Accutane as an adult. After my micro needling second session (I did 3 total), friends and family were noticing the significant improvement.
Feel free to DM me if you’d like to talk more.
Oh my. That’s a lot. Mine was 3 for $900 in a MCOL city.
I’m on my second round of picolaser for brown spots, I don’t have any pit scars. Downtime is just a few hours. I’m waiting a week to see if it’s working, apparently it gets darker before it lightens up.
