I’ve been an LPN for 8 years, predominately in pediatrics, both in patient and home healthcare. I’ve worked in medical offices for 10+ years before that. I was looking to explore options outside of bedside nursing/direct patient care, do I have many options? I saw another similar post but the OP is an RN, and I didn’t know how much that information would apply to me as an LPN.
Sorry about that! It's a common issue for sure. I hope to change this at my hospital but it's tough since medicine is so behind.
I love when people ask me if the attending will be coming in soon. I get to say "You just spoke with her actually" and it brings me joy. This happens to my boss literally at least once a day so hang in there! You're helping change it just by doing your job.
Yep, happens to my attending all the time. Sorry to hear that. Its a typical stereotype.
Do the comments come with prejudice? I sure hope it's merely an impression.
My wife has been giving anesthesia for twenty years. She still gets asked when will the doctor be in when doing h & p / pre-op interviews. Sometimes no amount of patient education is effective.
