I’ve heard from quite a few people about how creatives are not happy at Droga and people might want to avoid if they want to be happy and want to have work/life balance. Someone had a break down while working there. It’s still one of the better agencies. Just wondering what is the dirt there. Any insider stories?

WLB is not great. But there are lots of reasons to like it. David is involved in all the work. The new CCOs are smart and committed to an environment that leads to good things getting made. There are a lot of accounts that are opportunities. And more committed people than other places. There aren’t many clients making comedy, Strategy has really lost its way in the last couple of years, and Accenture waste a lot of your time... But it’s still worth it.

Why is this the ‘most red of red flags’? Clients can get to a good area to work from, so can creatives. The idea that good strategists are a part of the process that you can’t do without is kind of a myth.

I freelanced there a few years ago and had to pull an all nighter, left around 8am to get some sleep. Came back a day later and it was like a pissing contest. ‘You left at 8am? Well I stayed until 11am!!’ Cool flex bro.

Many of my droga buds pre-covid would post instagram stories of them leaving the office around 1-2am

What a badge of honor. Not.

I know a guy who just finished freelancing there and he said it was punishing. Long hours including every weekend. Disorganized. FWIW he said people were nice, but everyone is burned out.

In general hyped agencies have poor WLB (and you have exceptions) so no surprises there. Also many foreigner-led agencies (aka Australia/Brazil/etc) demand the crazy work ethic they are used to in their home countries. I’ve never seen so many people leave at 6 on the dot when I moved to NYC pre Covid days. I found WLB in the US. (The workaholic lifestyle is nothing to be proud of)

Just wanted to give you the proper ‘Droga Creative Recruitment’ experience. The alternative would have been ‘Yes’, but with an offer of half the money you get now and a title lower.

That translates to “I want to work at droga”

Feel like now they are with Accenture a lot of their clients are having them do performance marketing (cuz gotta make dat monies), and only a few spots that are decent coming out of there.

Sorry if this isn’t the right bowl! I was fired from my last job due to performance issues. I filed for unemployment and was approved, however my former employer filed an appeal. I’m not even sure what they’re protesting but it’s making me really nervous. What should I do now?

hey all, i’m 3 years into my career. some decent work produced, some awards (mostly student). after getting laid off last fall and many many applications and emails sent, I’ve decided to spend time and money on a creative PR stunt to get my dream agencies’ attention. I’ve decided I don’t want to settle any longer, and I’m ready to make the jump to the elite. so people that have made it to their dream agencies: when did it happen for you, what made it happen, and was it everything you hoped for?

From talking to students at multiple M7 schools, it seems like all of the BB/MBB/FAANG companies recruit at most if not all of the schools . So if you're planning on recruiting for one of these, is there really a major difference in career opportunities between each school? Asking because it seems like some schools are specifically known for finance vs consulting vs tech, but if the companies are all recruiting at all these schools, the differences don't seem as pronounced to me.

For data science roles, senior (L6) at AWS or post MBA level (specialist track, so same pay as generalists) at MBB? Comp is 20% higher at AWS just to start. But maybe looks like MBB has better upside - solid path to promotion to manager level with solid comp increase. But worse WLB and it's unclear to me whether MBB data scientist on the resume is up to par with big tech data scientist on the resume. Coming from big 4 so I am considering brand so I can do better with future resume screens.
