You’re not very good at this Rong.

You are doing it Rong. The hiring manager will get a report from the background check company and compare it with what you said.

Two Rong’s don’t make a right. Just be honest this time and hope for the best.

Yeah Rong. You’re Rong.....

Wow, these comments. Love to make fun of non-white sounding names. Racism is hilarious 😒 But to your point OP, I'm not sure how much this will hurt you, it's really not great that you lied, but the most important thing is to be 100% honest on the background check form now. My job history doesn't match my resume in that I leave a lot of irrelevant jobs off of it since it's a marketing document, but I always put every job I've had on the background check form and it's never been a problem that it doesn't match my resume since it marches my actual background. Your situation is different since these jobs actually were on your resume, you just didn't tell the full truth about them, but who knows, maybe they won't care? Only thing left to do now is fill out the form honestly and wait to put in your notice until you have confirmation that the background check cleared.

Don’t make a Mod to your past jobs, double check to make sure it’s not Rong

We have a term in spanish, “Vergüenza Ajena” translated roughly to feeling someone else’s shame. Its when someone does something that makes you feel embarrassed on their behalf. I.e. our buddy Rong’s thread

Also dude lol stop posting with your name

That’s not his / her real name

Did your CV say “employed by” or something more like “experience.” You might be able to spin the cv. If the portal asks for “employers” put in the company you worked for, not their client.

Never, ever, ever lie. It will always catch up to you, and before it does, you’ll pay interest in the form of anxiety. You’re lucky it’s catching up to you now. Take the opportunity to set things straight. If you want to get ahead of it with the hiring manager, that might be a good idea too. However, this seems to me like more of an honest mistake than it was a lie. In this case, where you were working is different than who your employer was, and you answered the more relevant question. The mistake was not making that crystal clear. It might clear things up. If you put a resume in front of me with a bunch of 6 month stints in various companies, I’d worry about why you were leaving all of the time...

The background check people won’t know what you said in your interview, but it will need to match your resume. They also will look to see whether you have had continued employment.

like

The background check verifies your employment history, provide the employer names as you have them on your resume. As long as dates/names match you are good

I don't think it's a big deal. I have done it a couple of times and the hiring manager once knew during the interview that I was contracting and the other time he didn't that my employer was different from what was mentioned in the resume (clients). I had to mention my employer in the background check which wasn't mentioned any where else. Passed! Just chill!

During my interviews, I've used some company names that were my clients and not really a parent company. But my recent 5 years experience was accurate. Shall I just go ahead and disclose my real employer names (and not clients) in this form? Can they find out that I misrepresented?

I’m in the exact same situation.... I was with a contracting agency Which did my benefits and paycheck but didn’t ever report to the people directly in agency so I actually put the big name company on my resume, linkedin etc.. in the past it hasn’t been an issue.... just submitted my background check for a big four Tuesday. prayering for the best right now and expect to hear next week. I just made sure to the list the agency in the background check because I wasn’t employed directly by the company so not sure how the background check would clear.....I don’t think it’s the biggest deal to be honest..... I didn’t misrepresent the info as I worked for the company listed on my resume thru an agency but I overthink this too

helpful

It’s a problem that you listed your clients

Definitely a problem, it will raise red flags. There’s a reason they run these background checks ya know...

Okay. Is Rong Mod your real name? I assumed it was a handle because you made the wrong modification on your resume? How much did they like you in the interview? If they loved you and you are a perfect fit I’m sure they will let it slide. If you were a so so candidate you may get bounced. Next time just say that you were a (consultant) on the resume.
