Normal. Keep improving.
Normal - and happens with each director you work with. Every manager or director have different expectations too so one way works well and you apply it the same way on another project only to get told it’s wrong or not good.
Story of my life
Thanks all. Feel a little better. I was starting to wonder whether I was really just poor at producing slides and whether I should be expected to know every small formatting or presentational point. Seems as though as long as I learn each managers way of doing things, I’ll be just fiiiine.
Also, remember that is happens to everyone at all levels! You learn to deal with it.
Hey OP, been a banker, a consultant, and a semi-consultant. 50% of a the reason that consultants spend long nights is because they like to 'chisel' their powerpoints till all their internal insecurities have been addressed. I moved to 'semi-consulting' now, and people produce decks/slides much faster because they dont spend that much time finding the exact words each and every fucking time.
I think it's also a factor of how much you are charging the clients. The more they charge (MBB) the more time they waste on this stuff.
You are paid to do whatever you are asked to do. Don't question the point of things. See it as a game. My personal record is v36 of a deck. Top that grasshopper.
V56, I win!
And each time I correct it, there are more points I wasn’t told the first time round. Am I stupid here or is this totally normal?
Unfortunately not uncommon. I too came from industry and think this is often taken too far.

100% normal. I’m on version 12 of my deck, management always finds new things to update during each review.
