I've known for months the CEO is selling the company. My boss, the COO will finally find out next week because he has to sign the transaction documents. Wondering if I should practice my surprised face, or fess up I've known for months and didn't tell him? Help me decide.

Play the confidentiality card. Can’t argue with that.

Don’t volunteer you know but don’t lie either. It might come out anyways.

It’s not your job to tell him what you know.

Plans to sell a company are usually the worst kept secrets

Usually, yes. But we mostly WFH and the CEO is in another state, so no overheard conversations or witnessing anything out of the ordinary.

You didnt know. Unless you were part of those discussions. No way to prove you did. It wouldn't matter at that point.

Just don’t bring it up.

How good are you at poker?

Why do you know first and not the COO?

I know because I had to pull all the employee data, offer letters, NDAs, bonus plans etc. I have no idea why the COO was not told. The CEO is a sole owner so maybe he just figures it's his business he can do what he wants and doesn't want to deal with conflicting opinions.

Got an offer from Capgemini and they have given doj on 11th july. Later I got the last working day from my current employer which is 29th July. I asked Capgemini to revise my joining date. They agreed and even confirmed that over mail. Now the hr is not picking up my calls since last couple of days. Even she is not responding to my mails. I have the offer letter and their confirmation on mail that they will revise my doj once I get the lwd from my current employer. Now whom should I contact?

Just increased my rent by about 500. We just signed a lease agreement for 2510 per month after utilities and such, so I’ll be paying 1255 individually.

My income after tax is 3,440 per month. Is this too much to spend on rent? I live in Chicago by the way.

I currently spend 720 per month on rent but the living conditions are less than desirable. I try to budget, save, invest in any way that I can, but my living space is just really important to me so I wanted to get something nicer this year

Wondering what people think of tattoos. I am thinking of getting my first one (pretty small), on my arm (a spot that would be concealed by long sleeves, but visible in the summer). I’m nervous this would change the way people would see me around the office, or impact people’s perception of me moving forward in my career. I know at least one senior associate that has a tattoo, but it is quite high on his arm and so even short sleeve polos sort of cover it. I’m in Real Estate/Finance.

So I have been with this company for 6 months, immediate supervision is almost never in office and team members are never here to help. They all wfh except I’ve been told “I have to be in office so I can better learn” poor leadership and hardly any training… I was given a PIP for not performing to their standards. Also told I don’t tell the truth. Why are company’s like this?

I was in the office (pre-c19) on the Friday after thanksgiving so I could get some stuff done while it was empty. A peer Director was also there and asked me for help with something. I helped him a for while, then he said, “this is really helpful, I have to go to an all team meeting for 30 minutes, but could we finish after that?” Me: “an all team meeting today?” Him: “yeah, I always schedule an all team meeting on days like this so people can’t pretend to wfh when they are really on pto.” smh 🤦‍♂️

I just heard a couple of days ago that an employee was fired by HR for booking a first class ticket that was *approved* by their direct management. The employee was required to make a trip for a work function that involved C-levels and others from their department in a team building type of event. The employee spent their own money to make this, and to boot is a single mom.

Is it me or does this seem insanely unfair and out of left field? How does management not get in trouble??
