Hello,
I have salary discussion round with Tiger analytics for data science role, Toronto
I had a few things that I wanted to know before I join:
1) How much compensation should I ask for? Also how does the structure look like for DS roles (base+bonus+equity) . Can I ask for a joining bonus?
2) Is travel a part of data scientist role at TA?
3) also how easy it is to move to analytics consulting role from data scientist within the firm?

I’m job hunting in Los Angeles, looking at a variety of titles (HRBP, Sr. HRBP, Manager, Sr. Manager, Director). I have 8 YOE and my SHRM-SCP. I reached my report limit on payscale.com, so I used a variety of other sites to price the roles (BLS, salary.com, Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Robert Half). The problem I’m having is the huge inconsistencies between sources (there are $40k differences between some of the identified medians). (Continued…)

You are working for a company with how many people? First, tell your manager that you need at least someone to assist with you with the workload. Second, since you will be left alone, they need to make sure that you are equipped in taking over the role. They should provide for our trainings.
SHRM for sure. I'd also be pushing for some type of title change AND salary increase. It's kind of ridiculous to expect a direct report to step into their manager's shoes, take over all of their work on top of their own, and just keep things status quo.
This is a huge plate for you to just automatically assume. I would make sure you're negotiating an immediate raise if you're to take this role right away.

I just want to emphasize what a couple people said above - if you’re taking over the additional responsibility, make sure you negotiate a promotion as part of it. You absolutely should not remain a coordinator if you’re taking over your manager’s work, and definitely need to be paid more. Don’t let them take advantage of you.
I agree with this comment. Always negotiate and never sell yourself short. This is additional work that warrants a raise.
Ohh. That's a sudden increase in obligation. I would have to agree with the SHRM as suggested by others above.
