I went through a long bout with SIBO, but 25% of your weight sounds more like c-diff - are you on the other side (I hope!). Interested to hear about your treatment. As for gaining the weight back…there are many bodybuilders in this bowl (self included). Would recommend protein and health fats (the later add calories without Bulk can be good if you lack appetite). Both are also easier on the gut (at least for me). It took a while before I could be friends with vegetables and carbs again. Now, as long as I take HCL supplements when eating and avoid dairy - zero issues. If you are still experiencing symptoms - may be worth while to get your gut microbes checked.

I had a doctor friend order it and he and I collectively went through test results. I’m not a GI expert but man I’ve had to self educate. C diff is another bag of cats. There may be ancillary imbalances (yeast, archnae, H P, fungi, etc., - the world of microbes that are in our GI) and the test should identify those. May also consider if you have a biofilm issue (protective coating around colonies of microbes) that protect the suckers…have to destroy that to kill, replenish and balance. All of that is *could be*. Your body has gone through a lot. It may take some time. Work with your medical team and get some data to help drive the course of treatment from here. There is hope.
I’ve been through E. coli, h pylori, a parasite twice, IBS, gastroparesis, gerd & SIBO. I find colostrum (pills ordered on Amazon from New Zealand source) are fantastic in healing the stomach lining and stopping nausea almost immediately. For SIBO, avoid probiotics/prebiotics, the only one I can tolerate is powdered baobab (has a diff type in it that’s more easily digested). I also take a number of liver supplement and healed high liver enzymes/Nash with it too. If you’d like to DM me with more details, I’d be happy to help!

Kind of. I’m also trying to gain weight after cancer took about 25% of me and I couldn’t swallow for 4 months. I don’t know what foods would trigger you, so I’ll refrain from telling you about my favorite very high calorie smoothies (greens, fruit, nut butters, healthy fats, protein powder). I suggest joining a Facebook group for people with your condition. These groups were super helpful for me - got recipes and lots of support there.
As much as I don’t like spending time on Facebook, I will definitely look for some of these groups. Thanks for the tip!
