Get on new business. Bringing in new business always strengthens your position at an agency
I read the underlying concern as this role is not fully funded and living on borrowed time? Get busy pitching and offer yourself up to other groups.
Freelance or start a side business! Use that education budget to learn something you've always wanted to.
If you're a creative, double dip and pull in an offsite freelance gig. Everyone does it.
I feel you. I've never worked in account groups before. I would work for every client in the shop. Now I'm group with 3 clients, working mainly for one and is soooo boring. The excitement for the "next brief" is gone. And takes a lot of time to produce something. Basically you work the first half of the year to make something to air in October and if it is not a good work you will have to wait till next year. Sucks.
I have never heard of anyone complaining about having too much free time.
Listen to the people telling you to start a side gig of any sort, whether that's freelance, a passion project, or business. You'll get infinitely more satisfaction paying yourself than you will making Digitas rich.
Enjoy it while it lasts...
OP, what do you do? I was hired on a new account and had nothing to, like nothing!, for a few months while things were getting set up and on their way, then...the nightmare started.
