I’ve moved from BA, to BSA, to Project Manager, to Program Manager over the course of my long career. What’s the next logical step? Lead? I enjoy my work, but I want to push myself. Thanks!

This is amazing! For individuals who aspire to be at your level, how were you able to make all of these moves? I'm assuming director or executive level roles would be the next level. What are your career aspirations?

Thanks! To answer your question, mostly I just like to know how things work. By asking questions, and listening more than I talk, I learned a lot. Making mistakes is a big part of career growth, as well as managing the risk that comes along with making those mistakes. I recall taking a job that I was not 100% qualified for, and it terrified me. Putting in extra hours and interviewing stakeholders got me up to speed fast. When you ask people what they do, with no expectation that they “train” you, they will always be happy to talk and share. Do that enough times, and you become the SME in the room. Anything done with a sincere spirit of service will be well-received

As far as aspirations, I’m curious about other’s career trajectories, and have set thinking goals for myself to learn about what sparks my interest

I have a similar career path, but I pivoted to a product role. Business Process Owner, BA, IT BA, Lead IT BA,VP & Product Owner (non-IT). Currently contemplating a move to Product Manager roles.

I was researching product owner roles when my company decided to migrate from Waterfall to Scrum. Due to my prior BA experience, I was a natural fit for the PO role.

Hi everyone

I'm in a business development role based in Asia. May I get your thoughts/pointers on the CAIA?

I'm aware that the CAIA is not as popular in Asia compared to the CFA. From my knowledge, there are no CAIA holders in my current firm within the Asian region, despite dealing with alternative investments.

Would be happy to hear your thoughts regarding the CAIA, and study tips if you have any!

How much rent should I spend in NYC?

I try to save so I can FIRE but I'm tempted to splurge a bit on luxury housing in NYC. I have 2 options:

Option 1:
2 bed flex: 1650$ includes all amenities like gym pool etc and I get the main room
But I have to share the common area, bath, kitchen, no Washer dryer in unit

Option 2:
Studio: 450 sq feet, $1995 includes Washer/dryer, gym and amenities $75 extra
Get to live by myself, more modern building built in 2000s

Is it worth the extra 350? TC:160k

Can’t decide on a job offer. Currently employed and have been wanting to do something different. The other job offer is pretty much what I make now but I’d be losing on a lot of PTO. I kind of feel really confused about what to do. The hiring manager actually picked up on the fact that I don’t sound super excited for the job. But I feel like this is my chance to leave and do something different but I’m hung up on barely any PTO and swapping to a complete different industry.

Feeling so lost. One day it hit me hard that I don’t think the career path I’ve been in is right for me. It’s been gnawing at me ever since. Looking for a change, but don’t want to leave my company just for the sake of leaving, or just better pay. I want to know that my next move is a step that is going to take me places.

Am I alone in this? Any advice?
