I’ve never bought allen Edmonds shoes, are they comfortable and worth the price tag?

Yup. Look on shoebank.com for deals, it’s their factory second. Also note they were bought by a private equity firm a few years ago and have been mixing in shittier lines/shoes. Just buy the classic style names and you’re good. Carlyle, Cornwallis, strand, park ave, etc. usually the ones that are full size runs.

Honestly I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m not white but me and 2 roommates hate our park ages.

What does not being white have to do with you not liking the shoes?

Definitely not

Think they are great

Yes. Walnut strands all the way

No, they are terrible during the several weeks it takes to break them in. Why pay for suffering? Get a pair of European shoes that fit out of the box

This has not been my experience ever. You must have ordered the wrong size. Their shoes are different sizing and have measurements listed

Floris Van Bommel FTW

100% you can even say you are a student/new professional and score a 25% off discount. Aka $100+

What make of AE do you recommend for the office for normal work attire pants/shirts?

In somewhat of an order of formality. Anything in black is more formal then light (walnut)

park ave, fifth ave, Carlyle, Cornwallis, Warwick, McAllister, strand

If in a rainy part of the country the V tread is a nice compromise. I have a few dress boots (dalton, Liverpool) with v tread, mostly worn in winter

Accepted an offer of employment with a mid-sized firm to begin in a couple of months. I’ve always wanted to shoot for big law but haven’t had the opportunity thus far. Overall, I accepted because I didn’t want to take the opportunity for granted in addition to the uncertainty with hiring due to covid. Would it be an issue to shoot for a big law opportunity in the interim? I know how this looks and sounds, so I definitely don’t want to set a precedent that I deal in bad faith.

Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. Having to start over after long term controlling relationship where I was left out of all the finance stuff. So I’m lost TBH. Engineering makes sense, managing my money not so much.
