I’ve never felt so unmotivated and unable to complete work before in my 6 year career. I keep pushing deadlines and calling out of work. What’s going on with me ?

Burnout it seems like

Perhaps it’s time to take a break.

D2, I agree with what you’re saying, but i’m operating under the assumption this person is pretty financially healthy considering they have 6 years in at GS.

I really wouldn’t burn through all your PTO since you will need it later- if you can, find a way to take a leave of absence. You might be able to get short-term disability for mental health leave.

Personally, what it would do if you’re really burnt out and have some change saved, is take the LOA, pack up my apartment up in storage and sublease it, and temporarily relocate to a VLCOL area for a few months to recharge. You can find very inexpensive places to live in Mexico or the southern mediterranean.

D-sol that you?

I’m feeling the same way you’re not alone

I went through this a few years back. I was just burned out. It took ~1 year of me doing very little work to get back in the swing of things.

Thanks for sharing MD1 will keep this in mind down the road

Not related to fashion but wonder if any 🐠 ladies in NYC want to hang?

I'm creating a NYC female friends group to do themed activities (e.g., day hikes, salon talks over wine on specific topics, group dance glasses) together in small group settings (<8 ppl at a time) .

The intent is to create better connections rather than doing run-of-the-mill brunches or happy hours.

If interested, please sign up (link in comment) and feel free to forward to your friends too.

I am fairly green in academia (< 1 year) and I want to shift to an area of research which I always wanted to do but never could as a Ph.D. student (because of conflict of interest).
The issue I am facing is that due to lack of my documented research experience in this field (read, lack of papers) I am finding it very hard to land any grant and reviewers keep saying "The PI hasn't demonstrated any experience in said research" blah blah.
Any advice on how to overcome this?
