I've not done my masters (engineer from a tier 1 college). Will that be a problem with my kid's school admission?

I don't see why this would be an issue

I'm afraid your kid do not stand a chance for admissions, unless you graduate from Harvard with "magna cum laude (Great distinction)"

He's obviously being sarcastic

The tier 1 college has to be worth something to them!

Schools don't take into consideration the tier of your qualification. They try to evaluate if you can help your kid on par with the school's infrastructure. Since you've done Masters which is a level above the Bachelors, it definately puts you into a better position than most parents, so you can be rest assured. All the best!

I said I haven't done my masters

You'll be fine I think. I know the process can be competitive, but I think they're more interested in ensuring your kid will be able to keep up/do well at school. You've gone to a tier 1 college so that should be okay!

I feel very lost. I just started as an associate at a big firm this year and have a one year old son. Learning how to be a mom and an associate has been extremely tough and I have felt burnt out on multiple occasions this year. Prior to having a child, I was a very determined individual and was used to saying yes to almost everything because I wanted to accomplish those things. Nowadays I feel like I don’t care about my job as much and being away from him gets more and more difficult.

Thinking of going to Alaska in July for a week. 1. Is it worth going if on a tight budget? It seems that many of the excursions there are $500+. I'm definitely not looking to spend that much, more in the $50-75 range for an excursion. 2. My wife will be 6 months pregnant. Is there a lot to do considering that (obviously we won't be able to do long hikes etc).

My SM keeps commenting on how I need to have a kid soon given my age. I've already said I don't know if I want them when she initially pried but since then she's 'joked' at least once a week about how I need to get married and start popping them out. I didn't care initially but now it's just getting obnoxious. I suspect she's projecting since she wants to have a second kid herself and is experiencing challenges but enough is enough lady! How do I go about addressing it with her?

Any tips for how to get a kid to stop lying? My 5 yo is lying all the time and we are at a loss. She’s not a good liar yet, which is our saving grace bc we can generally tell when she is lying. But she’s getting better. 🙁 We’ve talked about not being able to trust her, given consequences … nothing seems to resonate. Ideas?

Its been three weeks. And I was five weeks.

We have ~$400k HHI. Monthly expenses are ~$6k (1 child). We live in Austin. We’re seriously considering getting a 900k to 1M house which we wouldn’t be considering if the market in Austin wasn’t so crazy but we’re really big on proximity to culture/resources and need to stay in the area (can’t move to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio , etc.). We also just honestly feel like the suburbs out here are so very bland. Thoughts on us doing this? Are we crazy? Is this understandable given where we live?

I'm in the best relationship I've been in. We had a chat about life goals and long term plans. We align on everything except children. He definitely wants them and I am undecided. I had a childhood that makes me terrified of being a mother. To be clear I get on with children, have taught in primary school and volunteered in orphanages. I am very caring and take great care of a dog. I'm just afraid of the role of motherhood and that my needs will disappear. Anyone have advice?

So my husband recently became a share partner at a firm, which is a bit stressful for us because (i) it’s a big transition and a lot of stress for him and (ii) they are pressuring him to move to NYC (we are based in TX where most of my family live). Anyways, we are planning to have kids, and I’m worried that if we move and have a child that I will alone, also working in biglaw and raising the child alone without help. Anyways, I was wondering other women’s thoughts, experiences and advice.

Considering leaving for another firm job, one year in. Thoughts? New position would be a better practice area fit and would only work with clients in the industry I want. Currently it’s about 60% of what I’d like. Also, current firm seems to be stagnating with low hours to go around. I’m worried about not making hours, missing my bonus, and low professional development. Comparable on prestige & exit options and would be $5k less. Just worried about burning bridges and leaving “too soon.”
