I’ve only been practicing for 4 months, but I feel fairly confident that the practice area im in is not for me— I don’t find the work engaging at all and I can’t see myself actually litigating these cases. Just trying to gauge how it will look to employers if I start applying/job hopping elsewhere so soon? If anyone else has done something similar early in their career, would love to hear how that went.

I switched law firms 6 months in. You’ll be fine. Some firms care, most don’t. If a firm has a need they think you can fill, they’ll hire you if they like you.

I’m switching after 5 months, but it’s the first time I’m doing it. I plan to be at my new firm for minimum 2 years b/c of this and hopefully longer.

I think you need to give it at least a year - just keep at it and do your very best. 4 months is barely feet wet. The entire first year out of school is brutal. If it’s not, you’re probably not learning or doing it right. There’s a learning curve and growing pains and you really have no actual competence or developed skills after just 4 months of practice in litigation, so it’s hard to gauge your interests.

I know the world has changed a bit. I feel like a dinosaur sometimes on this app. But I felt exactly as you described when I started. I actually thought I hated my practice area/firm. I went in a little bit bitter I guess because the Great Recession had started and it was the only decent paying landing spot I could find. But I just stuck with it and did what i was told, how i was told. And I got pretty damn good at it. Then one day I realized I actually was good at something and knowledgeable with a pretty good rep, so I oddly started liking what I did a lot. It took over five years. The better I got at it, the more I liked it. Then after about 10 years, I branched out to some related types of litigation with higher rates, made partner, got some big clients, and the real money finally came. You may surprise yourself if you give it a little time. And you have a lot of time it seems. Remember, its a long game. I stayed at my first firm for over 5 years even though I hated it at the time, but I don’t regret it. They made me better.

Give it at least one year. You don’t want to be a serial job hopper this early in your career. It doesn’t look good. I was in a situation immediately after graduating law school…I hung in there for 12 miserable months and then made a move to a different firm in a different practice area. If you’re with a large firm you could always consider switching practice groups.

Hi,

I am done with the multiple rounds of technical interviews in PWC AC and HR confirmed that the feedback is positive and they are working on next process.
Its been one week I haven't received any communication on that. When I called HR, she told that background check team will reach out to me over email or call in some days.

Can anyone suggest if I should hope for the offer letter in this case from PWC AC or not.
Also, what salary I should negotiate for Senior Associate.

How much knowledge do I need to have to crack the interviews, also how can I shape my support profile resume for more suitable to data analyst profile?

Also which kind of companies I need to apply for, so that my chances of getting selection is more?

I’m a junior attorney, and my goal is to work in-house for a professional sports team (preferably an NBA, MLB or NFL team) or a record label, but of course these positions are highly-coveted. I started down the traditional path of working in biglaw (NYC) to receive the necessary training and experience while also trying to build relationships. However, biglaw really isn’t for me, and I’m exploring regional firms in Boston. Is it still possible to break into the sports/ent. industry? Any advice?
